Pewter Metallic- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 D1SC
302: Killed
Ok, so this past Friday me and my buddy Bryan (01WS6er) from the boards headed down to his parents house in Lancaster for the weekend. Both of us in my car head down the Rt 30 bypass and come up on a 94 Mustang GT after running with a late 90's SVT Cobra only minutes earlier. The cobra guy ran behind me as i got up to 120 or so and i pulled over to the right and he gave a thumbs up as he went by.
So when we come up on the left of this other stang he guns it and this thing was loud as hell! Later we get lined up and roll from about 45 he honks but i could hardly hear his horn over his exhaust! He jumps me a bit but i stat pulling, and pulling all the way to 110 until i could see I had like 10-15 cars on him, maybe even more, hah. We do one more roll like before and the same result. I let him go by and we needed gas at that point. The stang makes the same turn as us and we both go into the Sunoco. He gets out and says "what you got in that thing" I go just a lid and cat-back. "He says yeah, those things come with a lot of power from the factory, way more than mine, haha"
He said he had the stock 5.0 with a cam, shorty headers, off-road H pipe with no mufflers. He added that hes building a 302 to put in it that will push 400hp. We exchange shakes and he left. Pretty cool dude for sure.
So that was actually my first legit roll race and 2 encounters of cool guys in mustangs!
Sorry for the long read.

Shhh! It's cool that you beat them, but don't tell these guys that he was nice. We mustang guys have a reputation to keep.

Good kill! It takes a considerable amount of mods on a 5-0 to run with an LS, especially a plumpy SN95.

I would watch out for when it has the other 302 hehe. 400hp is not slow for any kind of car

Lol, yeah but there are many other factors, you dont know what he is making to the rear wheels, my buddys 5.0 was making 337 at the crank with heads/cam/intake setup. He went a 12.7 that doesnt mean this guy was making that kind of power it might have been an old engine. And my ls1 with just headers catback and a lid was a 12 second car.

Depending on what setup. When you say heads, cam & intake, you have to be more specific on which combination of h/c/i. I've seen an SN95 ('94 GT) with ported Cobra intake, Cobra GT-40 iron heads, and an E-cam run high 13's in the quarter consistantly. It was an M5 by the way, and wen't low 15's in the low 90's in stock trim. It takes a "good" H/C/I combo to hit 12's in that platform.

Yeah, but a H/C/I SN95 can also run high 11s. So yeah, it does depend on a lot of things. The prep of the car, suspension, gearing, and of course the driver.
The car you just described sounds just like a stock cobra with an E-cam to me. An SN95 with AFR165 heads, RPM intake, custom cam, gearing, suspension and tires will go 11s in the right conditions. I've got a friend with that combo. It isn't too far-fetched considering I went high 11s in a fox-body with a very similar combo. SN95s only weigh a couple hundred extra lbs.

Yes it depends on the specific combo. I was just refering to the fact that it takes that amount of engine parts to wake it up. This is strickly talking N/A.
