o nooo i cant spray yet i need new injectors my stock ones are too small... Ive sprayed once and it as on the street, i wont spray until i get new injectors. I know for a good fact i could of ran a 13 flat with good shifting and everything else on point, but i couldnt bang through the gears like i wanted to with the tranny mount being messed up. Im also running street tires. After my 4th run it started squeeling when id let the clutch out and the car would shake so bad so i called it quits.

*Bolt on's ONLY. Stock internals motor, intake to oil pan, stock long block (as it came from GM). LS6/LSx style intake swaps allowed.
Have you taken a close look at that list?? Do you really put alot of stock in it? This is the internet ya know

I can pick on several cars listed that are far beyond simple bolt on's. For starters, every car has a gear installed, there are a couple listed with 3 speeds, one with a 400 turbo, and that's the ones being honest. LS1 swaps in LT1 cars??? Really??

There are a few that absolutely crack me up,,,,several of them that trap over 120 mph still running 3.42 rear gears and a 6 speed.

Completely stock LS1's,,,,ya right. As far as I'm concerned that list can be tossed in the trash. Great running cars, but bolt on cars they are not.

Lets not forget some of the weights on those cars 31xx and 33xx last time I checked a well optioned fbody is around 34xx and a low optioned one is around 33xx so at the bare minimum those cars had serious weight reduction and some of those wights are most likely with drivers sorry ude.

Still not all that light. These are supposed to be all stock internal LS1's with bolt ons. But most excede the bolt on level. Trapping over 120 mph??

Well,,,,weight reduction is a freeby, so I'd consider it part of the bolt on street car type of theme that the name implies.

But there comes a point where it's crossing the line. You can go nuts with weight reduction as we all know. And if you start affecting the streetability or safety of the car then I'd consider it a track car more than a street car.

When you start doing stuff like removing the door brace bars, bumper braces, the back seat, the spare tire, then you start affecting the cars usability. In that sense I think it goes a bit too far.
I can see removing the AC, the power windows and locks, air bags and other things along those lines....because I drive cars like that everyday that never had those options.

But this discussion started as full weight stock 4th gens racing and comparing track times to brand new full weight 5.0 mustangs.
You can gut a mustang too just like people are gutting these 4th gens in the list,,,,so where does that leave ya?? Know what I mean??

We all know a brand new 5.0 can trap 114-115 mph on a good night. The stock 4th gens aren't doing that without at least bolt ons,,,serious weight reduction as we can see above,,or a stock weight 4th gen with at least a camshaft.

why are you so angry? this is nothing to get mad about. it's just a discussion. i bet some of those people put a pile of work into their cars to get a stock internals car to run like that, only to have it discreditted by other people because it makes them feel better.

what i'm saying is this is how far people take the "bolt on" thing. basically stock internals on the engine and everything else is fair game. i'm not saying that is what should be considered as a bolt on, but many mustang guys do.

Who's angry? I just don't buy into all the internet hype. I'm sure those guys have put alot of work in their cars and I agree they are running great. But to call them stock bolt on cars is a stretch.
Like I said,,,the term "bolt on" has gotten so far out of whack, every time you hear it you just have no idea what the person means anymore.

The bottom line is,,,and the reason this started,,,is the fact that a bone stock 5.0 is a better running car than a bone stock 4th gen. There aren't any 4th gens that were stock trapping 115 mph, and I think we all know that.
That's when the whole bolt on thing started,,,well this 4th gen does this and that 4th gen does that,,,blah blah blah...and it just keeps going. Bottom line is,,,you'll have to be packing some heat in these LS1's to keep pace now, a stocker isn't going to cut it.
I think some people are having a hard time giving credit where credit is due.

I'm not afraid to say that Ford has stepped up their game.

I totally agree with you. I think people are having a hard time accepting that the 5.0 is better straight outta the box.

    What happened to my thread?lol
All I wanted to share was that I beat a 5.0 and it IS possible haha then it turned into "oh well it doesn't count since you didn't hit 3rd gear" blah blah then it went into the 4th gen vs 2011 GT.

^^These last two guys seem to get the same bottom line. The ford is obviously a better car. I gave in because it's the truth. Does that mean I should look at the floor and surrender? No. The LS1 is how old now and came out rated at 325hp give-er-take and yet a mildly modded LS1 like mine can hold it's own against these brand spankin new stangs is something to be proud of. So what if they can trap a higher speed in the quarter, they were meant to. Ford decided they were sick of being picked on so the new mustang is purpose built to run. They are faster in stock form plain and simple but obviously our cars still hold their ground.

It just goes to show you how great the ls1 was/is. But time and technology marches on. The new 5.0 is a great engine But it took Ford many years to catch up. All i can say is Its about time!!!

Ford was making the 385+hp 4v 5.4s the same time GM had the LS1...Ford just wasn't smart enough to mass market that engine and kept it in exclusivity to the Cobra R's. Even the lower powered Navigator 4v 5.4s are great motors with tons of potential. They didn't so much catch up as they did rethink their performance priorities.

Gm had other engines besides the ls1 that were great also. The new mustang gt is finally a force to be reckoned with.

lol yep, i dont see how any of that could consider bolt on, the only thing not being a bolt on will be forging and stroking lol
