2002 SS vs. Porsche Cayman S

Ran into a Porsche Cayman S last night on the highway (sharp looking car). I saw it in the rear view and he was coming up on me pretty hard. He gave me a quick blow by and I caught back up to him. By the time I made it to his door, we were around 90 mph. We stayed side by side for a quick second and he jumped on it. I ripped it into 4th, ran through the band and shifted to 5th around 130+ mph and I had 2 - 3 lengths on him already. Since he jumped first, I was really surprised to see how quickly I pulled him in. We slowed back down for a merge and ran it again from around 60 mph and this time I got a better jump and beat him by roughly 4 car lengths by the time I hit 110 mph. The guy caught back up and gave me a thumbs up and I offered the same! This is one of the first Porsche drivers (other than the folks in the Boxters) that even gave me the time of day…..he seemed like a pretty cool guy and it definitely made my ride back from the shop a LOT more interesting!

The front end profile reminds me of Carl (can't remember the last name) on the old American Express commercials. Remember his big nose? The Cayman reminds me of a him!! It sticks out so far past the front wheels for such a tall vehicle. I don't like that.

Sassie Cassie is a long time member who recently was considering a purchase of this Porsche. She was discussing it on "Da Train" thread in AAG.

    BTW - Welcome aboard!

I haven't had a chance to race yet. I didn't know our cars can go all the way up to 130 in 4th. Are you sure about that? You shifted into 5th at
    130+ ???

If I recall correctly a M6 with a stock 3.42 rear will redline around 138 mph and if you mod it and raise the rev. limiter you can take it even further.

That's two of us! Most of them don't want to give domestic cars that cost less than $30,000. the time of day! I guess I got lucky and ran into a cool one!
