Last I heard the frontrunner for the boss was a 351 or some derivation of that. Whatever they have in it though, i think its a safe bet to say itll be packing close to, if not more than 400bhp.
You might be right. I thought i read that in motor trend or something.

    LOL. Ok....

There were no mechanically-different 'special edition' Mustangs in 2005 or 2006.

2007 Shelby GT500 has a curb weight of 3920 lbs (Vert is 4040). It's blown 5.4 DOHC motor is rated at 500 HP & 480 lb/ft torque. MSRP on these cars are north of $40k, and many dealers are getting $10-20k over sticker.

There is no "Boss" Mustang. Yet. Further, when it will come out and what engine it will have is pure speculation at this point. Unless someone can point you to hard data - take it with a BIG grain of salt.

The 5.0 DOHC crate motor has been offered by Ford for several years now - it is not new. It is, however, expensive, and not very popular among hot rodders.

The 351 - and any derivative of it - is dead and gone, never to return. Good, bad, or otherwise, that's the way it is.

Finally...it is very easy to make a regular Mustang look very similar to a GT500.

There are different levels of Roush Mustangs. All are over-priced and under-performing, IMHO. In a nutshell, the levels go from just appearance and minor bolt-on modifications, up to a 430 HP blown setup with all kinds of appearance and suspension stuff.

They are expensive, but i'll take a 430hp stage 3 over a 500hp shelby anyday.

    Or any C6 over both...

Why a Roush over the Shelby? I certainly understand personel preference, but I am curious, because if I had to pick one or the other, I'd go for the Shelby in this case (both are overweight and overpriced, IMO, but the Shelby is more powerful).

I prefer the look of the Roush, still like the look of the Shelby though. The main reason is that i'd rather have a car thats 600lbs lighter than one with an extra 70hp.

Looks are subjective, so to each their own, of course.

The weight difference should be ~470 lbs (3450 [per Autoweek] vs 3920), and I can certainly understand wanting less weight.
