03 Mach 1 vs. 15 year olds 98 LS1
Hey guys.
Went to the dragstrip a while back. Guys didn't care if a 15 year old was driving so my dad and I switched places. I finally got to beat on my car pretty good. The first few runs wern't too good. 13.7, 13.5. Finally i'm getting used to the whole (Brake Torque) and really get mean with it off the line (car is automatic) I realize my car's gonna get better and better times the harder i launch it. Those 315's were hot and ready to go. Finally a 30 year old guy in a Mach 1 pulls up. He started revin the **** out of it. I looked over n was like wtf i'm 15 who is this guy trying to impress. He had his mach 1 shirt and hat on and was all dressed up. Had his right side tail light which i guess gave him more HP? Had a bigger throttle body, Ram air, headers, and full exhaust w/some big tips. Was a nice car and the guy was dressed all properly (not for a drag strip tho). So finally i tell myself (i'm not gonna loose this one) I sit and burn the tires off for a good 20 seconds. Pull up to the prestage light and the guy just is staring. I slam the brake and rev it to 2400 before the tires brake loose. Now i think the guy started to worry because he thought i was a 6 spd. Needless to say, I jumped on him at the start and continued to pull each time i would shift. My car has a shift kit and the shift percent on the hypertech was turned up to +6. I only pulled a little bit when no shifting was involved so it was a pretty close battle. By the end of the run i came to a 12.9 at 106 mph. Pretty impressed for my 4th or 5th run down the strip. Guy wasn't too happy because he lost to an LS1
