    And where are you pulling this 240HP number from??

    You said 50 or 75 shot...thats between approximately 205HP and 230 crank HP. And it probably wouldn't even be that high, because you're trying to move all that extra air volume through a stock exhaust.

    So you figure the car puts down around 125WHP stock, and you're adding maybe 35-60WHP from the nitrous for a grand total of 160-185WHP.

    And thats going to run 13's in a 3000lb car??

    Your numbers just don't add up.

    Actually they do, 230-240crank hp in a 2900lbs car with the driver does ad up to low 14s high 13s. They just dont add up to you, i dont wanna bring any calculators into this as they arent too accurate but if you were to look at some 1/4mile calculators im sure they would put a car at that weight and power in the 13s.

    For the record a bone stock legacy gt puts down 180-195whp and can run a 14 flat stock. Yes it has AWD but its also 3400lbs compared to the 240s 2700lbs.

    First off, its not going to make 230-240HP at the crank. You're math is way off as usual. So the rest of your arguement is invalid. As usual.

    And how did the 240 drop 200lbs from your last post??

    And as for a Legacy GT running 14.0, you're not going to touch low 14's without a 6,000RPM clutch frying launch. Which will probably destroy the already weak transmission. Which is pointless.

    Stop dragging in examples of your overhyped imports that are completely unrelated. The thread is about a slow piece of shit Celica, not your Subaru, or your boys 240, or any other car you keep dragging in to try and make a worthless example.

    Between you an Superluminal, I think we have had at least one completely irrelevent post or video about some unrelated import in each street racing thread

    We've had 2 Celicas in the shop, one had a bad oil pump (apparently a common problem) which required dissasembling damn near the entire engine, and the other bad a broken timing chain, resulting in all the valves being bent, and the head and pistons being trashed.

    2900lbs with a 200lbs driver, 2700lbs without. Since i was comparing the curb weight of the lgt i used the curb weight of the 240sx. Once again you are misinformed as the weak wrx 5 speed from the 02-05 is not the same as the legacy transmission. I only use other examples because i dont know anyone with a celica, just trying to compare cars with simular hp and weight or showing how cars with the same hp but more weight are putting down numbers you say are impossible. Just trying to show you how you know very little about what cars can do what. The OP should know what could happen, though its not likly this celica is running 13s it isnt impossible.

    My friend who works at a body shop said his boss' Celica ran a 14.1 with 100 shot of NOS. It is a recent model, because it isn't rounded at the fenders. I am sure it was a GT but don't know if it was a GTS (don't know the difference except for the S at the end). So unless his car sounds insane, you are wasting your time.
    The S means he has a "scoop" on his hood LOL

    ^ No, the difference between the GT and the GTS is that the GTS comes with a 6 speed, 2ZZ engine VVT with Lift. The GT can only be a 5 speed with the 1ZZ engine with just the VVT.
    GTS = 180hp
    GT= 140hp

    Theyre not very fast but are pretty fun to drive overall.

    This is me. I drive an 01 Celica and trust me from everything I know Ive only seen two celicas that might beat a good driver with an LS1.
    Most likely, if this guys fresh outta high school, he doesnt have the money to make the car that hot.

    But... some are pretty sick.

    Id say you have nothing to worry bout. Smoke him!

    Well back to the topic, he backed out of the race. Of course I had to hear it through his friend because he didn't want to tell me himself. Shame.

    Look at it as a good thing. Not to lecture anyone here because Lord knows I've done ALOT of street racing in my day, but the tracks are opening within a month to maybe a month and a halfs time. Save it for where it really matters and traction can be found much easier! And the way I look at it is like this... if you bring your car to the track to run somebody for money, there's no excuses! Miss a shift, something broke, don't cry! You came with enough confidence to run it or shut it! I speak from both sides of the table...

    EDIT: Forgot to add that I'm talking about when money is on the line!

    Unless he has an LS1 swapped into that celica, no amount of NO2 or boost in the world is gonna save his as$$!!! Roll up the 500 in twenties, call him out and smack his ass in the face with it when he starts to talk ISH again! It would be a historic, never forgotten event with a rainstorm of greenbacks and tears!

    71 datsun

    Hi guys , im new here but i had to chime in on this thread. im a little older then most of the import crowd and a little younger then the old muscle car guys so i fall right between and over the years i have done my share of building of each type of car. a few examples are a 77 nova that ran 12.5 motor and 11.2 on a shot with a 350 sb, a 91 crx SOHC 1.6 that went a best of 11.6, a 93 civic hatch 1.8 DOHC that went a best of 10.7 and my current project a LS1 powered 240z that runs low 10s, any way my point is to assume that you know what the celica can run with out seeing under the hood is just crazy, all of my cars looked like stock daily drivers and other then aftermarket rims gave no indication of how they ran and you had no clue until you was looking at my taillights pulling away. if the celica is only bolt ons you have little to worry about, if its boosted or running a decent shot it could beat you especially from a roll. I raced many transams and camaros with both the crx and civic and never had any of them give me the slightest problem. but my ls1 datsun would destroy my crx from a dig or a roll but my civic would probably run away from the datsun at a higher MPH roll since it did trap higher mph in the 1/4 even though it was much slower in ET.

    Finally, someone who understands both sides of the fence. My cars, and my friend's cars looked the same with completely stock exterior, yet they run in the 10s. At first glace, most people would laugh at our cars, never suspecting that 400-500whp lie underneath. Then again, that is the beauty of the sleeper. There is much more gratification when you destroy someone who previous thought they were easily going to beat you. Again, like you, I have raced several LS1 TransAms, Camaros, and Corvettes and I never had a problem with any on the street, and that's with me laying down rubber in 3rd gear on drag radials. I don't see many, if any, street Fbodies that trap in the 130s where I live, and the ones that are very fast are hauled out to the drag strip on a trailer.

    That is the beauty of these imports. While most people think they are worthless trash (which is true for a majority of them), this provides a mask to the rest of us who are actually very fast. I mean when you look at a muscle car, you expect it to be fast, you are just proving the point by racing ricers. You look at an import, and you expect 16s in the 1/4, not a 10s car.

    Anyways, to the OP. If it's a GTS with bolt ons, you'll most likely spank him.... however, if he's packing a nicely tuned nitrous shot as well, you may have yourself a race. Like always, against a FWD car... go from the dig.

    Here is a Celica GTS on bolt ons, 100 shot, and slicks - 12.8@106:

    You've raced many Trans Ams (its two words) and Camaros in your Civic and CRX and never had any of them give you the slightest problem??

    Were these third generation cars equipped with the Iron Duke 2.5 perhaps??

    You act as if there are no 10 or 11 second F-bodys running around. There are tons of guys on this site and others that would destroy both of your cars, I don't know why import kids always think they are invincible. There are cars here that are running 11's with just bolt ons and a converter. Please.
