    02 z28 vs 03 mach 1

so the other night i was cruising down loop 323 wen this mach 1 get's besides me and wants to play, he gives me a little rev. Now i'm again's street racing i fully understand what can happen, but wen a mustang pull's next to me and want's to go i cant say no to that lol we take off from a red light and punch it on first gear, well my crappy clutch has been giving me problems (soon to be replace with a ls7 clutch) and it does not let me grave second so i miss second and shut it down. Now i'm thinking to my self take it as a sign and stop, but how could i let it go specially to a mustang? i catch up and give him a nod and honk three times this time i know i have to get all my gear's in no matter what or else.we take of on second gear and staid side by side till 3 gear and after that i start to slowly pull on him and i get the kill. But man i dint know the mach 1 were that fast, the guy was cool we pull over at a gas station i pop my hood to show him im stock pretty much, he also pops his hood to show me his stock (both car's had exhaust) and call it a night. Is not till the next day that i do my research on the mach 1's and find out that there nothing like the gt's and are rated at 305 with hight flowing cobra heads and better gear's.I say the two car's are pretty much even after that run and found new respect for the mach 1 since it was my first time racing one i had no clue they were that fast i though they were just normal 4.6 on a upgraded body, but there nothing like gt's there pretty fast.

here is the video it was taken inside the mach 1 sorry it was taken by a cell phone

    and here are the car's

Yup they def are no gt's but a stock ls1 should always be able to edge one out. The mach1 dyno around 260 to the wheels with a 5 speed while and ls1 fbody auto rarely ever dynos below 290 and the m6 are usually a little over 300 and even a little higher sometimes in 01-02. My buddy used to have a bolt on mach1 and time and time again would lose to my other buddies z28 in first gear it was an ok race but as soon as he hit second the ls1 pulled hard. The thing that gives mach 1's a good chance against an ls1 stock for stock is their really aggressive tranny gearing and a 3.55 rear end standard. either way good kill

No, they are very different from a termi engine. Higher comp ratio, non forged internals. I think the machs are also alum block compared to the termis iron block.

ahh they dont have iron block i didnt know they were aluminum but do have forged crank if its the 5spd. Also read that the later models might have gotten the termi engine kinda like the later of 02 camaros getting ls6's. some say they didnt have them at all and some say maybe idk lol

They never had the termi engine. They all had the same engine 4.6 liter dohc, alum block, alum head. Forged crank not forged pistons or rods. They only made them for 03 and 04 and didnt change anything engine wise. Forged crank is cool but even just cast cranks can hold 1000hp.

Ya they run pretty nice for what they are. My buddy bought a new one in late 04, and we used to play around a bit, go to the track together and what not.
In bone stock trim spinning the crap out of it, it would go 13.60's at 106+ mph. Loved the shaker.

The Mach-1s have the same heads as the Terminator. That's probably what you're thinking of. But otherwise as has been mentioned, the engines are quite different..

Yeah Mach-1s are respectable, especially on the straight line with their solid axle and gearing. Definitely better than the same year GTs...

I think the mach 1's have the same 4v motor as the 99/01 cobras, with better flowing heads. Am I right?
