02 firehawk vs 99 vette
my friend has a 99 vette and I drove it for about 50 miles one day, I even beat a new mustang with it, it seemed pretty comparable to my firehawk i just bought a week ago so I was just wondering what you guys think would win if we were to race? Both cars are both stock, no mods. My car is an M6 his is an auto.

I do agree on the weight issue although I have driven both cars, I think I could probably get him from a dig, but from a 70 or 80 miles an hour I think weight and aerodynamics would be against me. Maybe I should ask the vette guys if they have ever raced any firehawks. Thanks for your reply

Black- 2003 Mustang Cobra
i think itll be a drivers race with a slight advantage going to the vette due to the easiness of driving an automatic. I think itll be a fun and interesting race to watch reguardless.

Hes you advantage, you have the ls6 intake manifold which is a good 8-10rwhp and you have 3.42 rear end gears. His advantage is he weighs less than you. I would go with you just from my experience i have killed a couple corvettes.

Biggest hurt to a vette is traction with the IRS. F-bods have live axles. It will be close either way, a lot of people will argue the vettes making anymore power than the F-bodies. An automatic will be easier to drive, but it will put a little less power to the ground. I didn't race many vettes in my firehawk when it was stock and now it has heads and cam. My best advise is to worry about what you are doing and wait until the race is over to worry about him. Oh yeah and +1 on what Rikki said.

Black- '91 turbo fox, '97 vette
Should be a great race if it ever happens. The vette has either 2.73 gears with the auto or he has the "performance package" with 3.15s. You've got 3.42s, and if you can drive a stick well, and I had to bet, I'd put my money on you. If you can't get everything out of a manual, I'd put money on the vette.
I raced a T56 '00 camaro with my pop's 99 auto performance axle vette. The camaro had a head start and I didn't start to gain on him until he topped out at 160. The vette pulled on by, because it had a higher top-end.
My current '97 is good for at least 2 tenths on my fathers auto. The best I got out of his was a 13.3. The best out of mine was a 13.2, but I've only had it to the track once, and I guarantee it'll go better. I think it may even see 12s with good conditions. So I think that your manual will make up for the weight difference and the winner, like everyone else mentioned, will be the person who screws up the least.
