No im saying the tranny has more to do with towing imo than the motor. I was laughing at the comment you said the motor in the fbody. That has nothing to do with what we are talking about. Diesels vs an ls1? please not even close. You comparing the fbody motor is about far fetched as possible.

I would say the frame has more to do with it than the tranny.

I disagree, I think it's how well the squirrels and gerbils under the hood are fed that makes the difference in towing. Are you feeding them pellets or steroids?

Yeah it is amazing, I know it takes a lot of torque (and HP) to move that much weight. I respect that, but a truck to me is not sexy like our F-bodies or muscle cars in general.

The owners manual states no more than 1500 lbs, 1000 if you are going to be on long grades. I did tow my pop-up trailer back in 2000-2004 with my '98 TA, I got 20 MPG towing it. That trailer is a big one for a pop-up, about 1700 lbs. My father-in-law said as he was following me he couldn't see the car! I don't have a hitch on the WS6

Definitely don't underestimate. Highway you will take him tho. It's not a question, what are people thinkin. 1/4, he's dangerous. Highway, the thing is a brick. It'll hit 100 and be instantly slower, and has 0 downforce, although the weight will hold her down. They are fast, but I'd say at about 100 even if it was a close race your aerodynamic advantage starts to make him look silly the faster you get.

I agree our cars are sexy but you offer me a black 06 duramax 2500 4x4 with a 6 inch lift 35 inch all terains and a decent programmer and I'll take it anyday over any fbody. Somethin like this.

C'Mon what the heck is this!??! First off, please don't tow in your F Bod. Geeze. Secondly, they can't pull squat, has nothing to do with the motor or the gearing, cause plenty of people put truck ratios in their f bod. The car doesn't have a frame! You'll twist it if you try and put too much weight on. I might actually puke at the thought of a pop up camper behind my car lol

See if I had a truck thats what I'd want it to look like. I hate guys who lower the big ass bulky trucks. If you're gonna lower a truck let it be the smaller ones.

Towing cabability is ultimately limited by the size of the vehicle pulling it, Despite power. Thats why if you want to pull a 30,000 pound Bulldozer you have to invest in a semi truck, a pickup simply cannot handle that king of weight behind it due too its size, regardless of whats done to the motor.

yeah, supposing you had the power and chassis to handle that bulldozer, try getting traction lol. You'd be doing burnouts taking off. That and the trailer better be doing all the braking.

If he ONLY has a tune, you should be just fine. Expect him to get a decent jump off the line and you should start to edge back up on the top end side. If he has more than just a tune, you could be in for an interesting race. I find that the diesel trucks are to an extent similar to the 03/04 Cobras in that you know they are quick, however it's all going to come down to the mods to distinguish whether it's running 12's or 10's.
