If your stock, yeah. However though, I've seen killer sixty foot LS1 times that even the best AWD'ers out there would have a problem matching. Both cars are very tricky to launch, as much like two porcupines having sex, it is a very delicate situation. We need to watch that we don't break loose, and they need to watch that they don't bog...

Do you come out to E-Town any...?

from a dig is all you should have to worry about. a roll race is yours. assuming he's as stock as you

if you go from a dig he'll be ahead till the top of second and then you ll start pulling away assuming he is stock.

The chances of him getting a perfect launch are very slim. He will probably either launch to low and bog the motor or launch too high and fry the hell out of the clutch.

If you don't have good tires, invest in some. Practice launching, start between 2500RPM and 3000RPM and try to find the sweet spot. You want to try and take off as hard as possible without burning your tires off, basically.

If you can match his launch of even out luanch him, the race is beyond over. There is no chance for him to catch up at all, provided you don't let off the gas and start coasting or something

If he out launches you (very possible) you just need to wait a short while to catch him. Provided your racing for longer than an 1/8th of a mile, once you hook up and catch him you'll pull him like a freight train. I've seen it done plenty of times and I've even done it myself to STI's, they are not fast cars. They can merely launch hard with a good driver, which allows them to cut low 60' times and low ET's. Don't be scared of any car with a 100MPH trap speed, people like to talk them up and make them out to be more than they really are.

Most STI's will get Turbo Back Exhaust and then thats about all the mods, maybe air intake. That engine in it the Boxer is a bitch to work with. Piece of shit is all they are. Hell my friend with his 06 STI I told you all about, yeah blew his short block because the engine couldn't handle the abuse. Maybe your friends bro will blow his engine too
