    rear window coming unglued

my top is fine but rear window is coming unglued
top guy says $1200 to fix that I need to replace with aftermarket top that has window sewn into panel.
There has got to be a way to remove old glue and reglue.
This is a common problem with all glued in windows as he said 05 Rustangs had a recall and 05-06 Volvos are falling out while driving.

You can replace the glass with out replacing the top. Check with another top company.

The cloth is heat bonded to the glass. I don't know of any adhesive that would work.If you find one let us know.

Mines doing the same thing. Came undone at the bottom. Chevy told me $2000.00+ to fix it. 36000 dollar car and its falling apart. Feels good, dont it?

I talked to a guy that just does tops in Calif.
He said machine that heat bonds glass is $100K.
I say for that much they should have it figured out by now.
He gave me a price of materials only @$800 Ouch!
Im going to check with my supplier locally and see what can be done.
    Im in Oviedo.

ToplessHO if you find something *cheap* around orlando let me know. For right now I have some black 3m 'cloth tape' on it to keep it from leaking. This is the 3rd time my top will have to have work done to it. First time was 20 miles after I bought it brand new when the glass seperated from the top. Second was when my rear window shattered out when my defroster malfunctioned and stayed on cracking the glass. Now its doing it again for no apparent reason. And of course its not waranteed anymore.

I seem to remember reading on here some time ago about a special glue that was available to reattach the glass to the cloth top. Seems like there ought to be a cheaper way to do this than to replace the entire top.

Chevy should really issue a TSB for the tops and replace them for free. I know of at least 5 people with LS1s that this has happened to. And remember this is the 2nd time its happened to me.

Chevy only expects the top to last as long as the factory warranty.

Mine started to come unglued in about a four inch section. I bought some glue at Wal- Mart by loctite, I think it was called stick and seal, but I will have to look. I glued mine two days ago, and it seems to be holding. I don't know how well it would do on a big section. It says on the package that it bonds to fabric glass wood plastic etc...
I also saw a post on ls1tech that talked about using the glue from a glass shop that they glue in winshields with.

My 99 Trans am is doing the same thing, the bottom to about 4 inches up is coming unglued and I'm about to use something to see how it does. If you know something that works real good and is halfway cheap, let me know.
