Black- 1998 Trans Am WS6 'Vert
I find it pathetic that GM can no longer release a 'vert version of any model the same year that model is introduced. Back in the day you could buy a 'vert Camaro / Firebird in late '66 as soon as the model came out. When was the last time GM released a 'vert of anything the same year that new model was introduced?
Now they are considering canceling the 'vert Camaro all together?? They might as well forget trying to compete in this pony-car war. Don't waste our time and emotion.

lots of companies tend to release the vert version at least 1 year after.
Even Ferrari... take the Modena 360 as an example.
It's not so uncommon to have the vert coming @ a later time.Eugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

'68 Vettes were avail as verts, '68 A-bodies were available as verts, '55 Chevys were available as verts (name a year between '55 and '74 when a full-sized Chevy wasn't), '70 Cudas were avail as verts, '64-1/2 Mustangs were available as 'verts, '67 Camaros were avail as verts. You are correct it's not uncommon practice TODAY, and GM is not the only guilty party these days, but it didn't use to be that way is all I'm saying. Probably could blame the crash-testing process for this additional year delay.

unfortunately, times have changed... safety/testing regulations take lots of effort and time, and they have to make some choices with limited resources.
I agree... but i also understand why the market has become like that.

It is also to get a new option on a car to drum up more interest. Look at the PT cruiser.

According to chevrolet.com it says Convertible avail. Summer of 2010. I'll be all over it if they offer a Z-28 version by then. They can't kill the Z-28, I know it!
