    Fastest Convertibles Whats Your Times?

Just curious as I am trying to build my convertible now. What kinda track times or dyno numbers are you putting up. And lastly, what your combos. Help a brother out!

I can tell you what I have experimented with if you think it will help.

My 02 SS convertable with an automatic weighs in at 3820 lbs. with me in it. Most of my runs were made at a DA of 2800 ft or higher,,,worst being 3400 ft. (typical Cincinnati crappy weather)

Bone stock ran 13.70's at 101 mph.
After my own tuning with HPtuner it went 13.40's at 104 mph with 4 13.44's in a row.

I recently installed long tube headers and off road Y-pipe,,,no additional tuning yet,,,made 2 more runs and had a little knock retard (2* on the shift points) and ran a best of 13.31 at 105 mph.

So the headers picked me up an honest tenth and one mph,,,

I have done all the free mods,,,,cutting under the air box, ported the throttle body, throttle body bypass, etc....but have seen no real results from this. Also installed underdrive pulley,,,but have seen no gains there either.

All runs made on street tires cutting consistent 2.11 to 2.15 60 foot times with mild wheel spin.

Not bad considering still a relatively stockish car thats no feather weight,,,,if I could just get a better DA reading closer to sea level I might tickle the 12 second zone.

Torque converter is next on the agenda,,,and for an auto it's probably the biggest bang for the buck. Should put me in the high 12's easily even with crappy DA,,,,then camshaft,,,then,,,,,,,,it never stops

    btw, i have a LS2 stroker w/ plenty of tq/hp.
Sacrificed hp for more tq, since I roadrace more than drag... N/A, I have 508-511 rwhp between 4400-6600rpm
It's quite fun beast to drive

well... first off, the car weighs 4300lbs.
i have 315s as skinnies, and the best i was able to run was 12.2 sec @ 122 mph w/ a 2.4 best 60' time.
can't use 1st and most of 2nd... lol so spinning through the half track.
from my understanding, i can easily get in the 10s with just traction... and my mph should increase as well when i can put some power down better...
that was on dead r-compounds. i rarely go drag-racing... i tend to road-race instead... prefer the twisties.

    fwiw, it's a M6.

Your MPH is enuf for a high 10 second pass. Need to get that thing to hook and try again. LOL. I am just trying to get a 11.99 pass on motor. I still have a long way to go unfortunately.

My engine builder thinks i can get close to 130, provided i get some grip... and if i go under 4000lbs and get rid of 55+lbs on each wheel tire on all corners... I should be in lower 10s... but then again, need to not screw up on shifting.. lol
    I figured that If I get a 1.6sec 60'... that means i save 0.6sec on the 60ft alone.
That, combined w/ the usage of 1st + 2nd gear, means i should be able to get close to 1.5 sec gains... imho... guess we'll see.
    It's only #s, after all.
When my car was stock, I had a hard time getting in the 13s... some days would get it... but mainly very low 14s... maybe i'm no good @ upshifting... I'm great @ heal + toe, though... lol

Surely there are more than the 3 of us with convertibles that are trying to go fast. What are your et's, mph, weights, and engien combo's? I already have TCI convertor 3000 stall, BMR weld in SFC's, magnaflow catback, p&p tb, tb bypass, ram air mod, eibach 1.2 lowering springs, UMI strut brace, UMI adjustible track bar, & UMI LCA relocation brackets. I am in the process of long tube headers with no cats, ls6 intake, camshaft, valve springs, pushrods, (or either RHS heads), ls6 oil pump, plugs, & new wires. I am just trying to see where this will get me. I am also going to add a ZEX nos kit in the future.

I'm guessing there aren't many convertables out there,,,or at least convertable owners that actually race their cars.

For an update,,,I have done some additional tuning the car, since I haven't touched it after the header install and trip to the track. I finally got around to welding in an extra 02 bung so I can use the wide band on it to attempt to dial in the PE mode (WOT) tuning,,,then it will be ready for another trip early this spring.

Also have a converter to install, but waiting for one more trip to the track and see what tuning gets me,,,then it's converter time.

Just this damn weather is holding me up, tracks don't open here until late February or early March if weather permits.

Have you weighed the car yet?? I would assume being in Mississippi the elevation is low, which may help to your advantage at the strip if the air is good.
Hard to say where your car will run based on those 2 variables I mentioned,,,plus the fact that you have a ton of changes listed on the car,,,have you base lined it yet by chance while still stock???

Ed, you never got a chance to run it with the stroker motor? When you get it back up and running, keep me posted on the times, looks like you got a really fast droptop there. I am shooting for 11's on motor, and then shoot a 175 shot to it. Got some fast cars around here, got to run high tens on the street to compete.

Never ran the new engine in the 1/4 just in the 1/8.

Our 1/4 track closed down before I got a chance. My guess I am in the low 11's. Last time I dyno'd with the P1 was 666 rwhp

Let us know as soon as you can. I am thinking about ordering a set of Trick Flow heads for my combo now.
