What should it be running, hypertech tuned...

I am looking at this 95 Z28 pretty much stock cept for a K & N intake and filter plus it comes with the hypertech tuner thing. What numbers can I expect from this car and what would it run about in the 1/4 mile. Also its an A4.

Please if somone can tell me about the handheld tuners, I dont know much about them? Are they worth it? What can you get out of them? Is it better then going to a shop and get it tuned? Thanks

I think those handheld tuners are junk. Besides helping with the small things like turning on the fans, speedo adjustments for tire size and gears, or codes, they don't do much performance wise. Hypertech even says on their website that its only good for a CAI and catback. Not worth it IMO. A good shop can do much better.

    00 Z28 sold :-(

Hypertech is crap...sell it and use the money towards headers or a mail order/dyno tune.

I'd guess a pretty stock LT1 would run a low 14's...auto would dyno around 240ish It really depends on a lot...including the condition on the engine and the rest of the drivetrain.

They were rated at 275 and 285 at the crank, depending on the year. 96-97 SS and WS6 cars were rated at 305 crank. They average 240-255 depending on year, transmission, and as was said above, overall operating condition.

Why is the 1/4 mile time of a vehicle your basis for buying it? Anything can be fast with enough $ thrown at it. I spent 22k in 4 weeks. These cars are fast as they sit, I'd buy a car as close to stock as possible, sounds like a decent vehicle. 1/4 mile time or not...

    10's N/A

If it is equipped with exhaust it can possibly dip down into the 13's - depending on the driver and conditions. I ran 13.9@100 in my previous '93 T/A A4/3.23 car with no airbox, removed silencer on the stock elbow, and Flowmaster cat-back.
