which way do the header gaskets go?

i have the copper header gasket from mr. gasket, and one side is raised and the other side is flat , which way goes towards the head?

I haven't tried Mr. Gasket,,,but the copper gaskets I use tells you to put the flat side to the head and the raised portion facing the headers.

That's how I set up my OE gaskets.

Yes it does have a control solenoid for the A.I.R.,,,,on my 97 it's mounted up on the passenger side intake. Not sure about the earlier years. Your vacuum diagram under the hood should lead you to it.
