    Water leak near opti

I've got a large leak that is coming from the water pump area just above the opti. It's a steady stream even with the engine off. I can't see the exact spot, but it leaks down over the passenger side plug wires. I can't see any hoses up there, they are below that. Am I going to have to replace the whole water pump, or is there a plug there that has a tendency to go and can be replaced? I guess I'm just hoping against hope that it will be something small and cheap. (Not even thinking about possible opti damage.) Thanks.

Might be coming out of the weep hole in the water pump (which would necesitate pump replacement.

Replace it now, in the driveway or your own garage!! Far easier then on the sde of the road.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm trying to replace it right now (you're right, I'd do about anything to avoid doing this roadside). I'm running into a problem, though. I've removed four bolts. 2 equal length long ones, 1 about 3 or 4 inches, and one about 2 inches. Haynes says whack it t break the gasket seal if it doesn't come off. I've used a piece of wood and a deadblow hammer on it. The gasket seal appears to be broken, but it still won't come off. I've got maybe 1/8 inch gap on the passenger side and a barely visible gap on the driver side. I don't want to continue pounding on it if I've missed something. Any ideas?

Maybe the gear drive on the back is seizing up. Try spraying some liquid wrench back there.

It'll come off, just put some muscle behind it.. Your not going to break it..

Your missing 2 bolts, there are 6 total to come off.

4 of them are long, like 4 inches, they are 2 on top and 2 on the bottom, then one is attached to the air pump on the drivers side, there is a nut to pull off, then loosen the air pump, remove the air pump bracket then you need a deep socket to take off the nut/bolt that is still in it, on the pass side you have to look under the pulley and you will see it, it is best to get this one from underneath the car as you can see it alot better.
