temp slowly rises??
I just rebuilt my 97 lt1 lt 4 hot cam speed inc programmed my pcm 180 thermostat car runs super cool when driving stays at about 170 degrees all day while driving at a decent speed but if the car is at a standstill or in heavy traffic the temperature slowly rises has not gone above to 210 tho I have looked through everything and can't find nothing wrong I noticed my fans kick on at about 160 degrees and stay on unless I'm on the highway in the temperature will stay bellow

Have you checked the temp with an aftermarket gauge to verify or are you solely relying on the OEM temp gauge for a reading?
Doesn't sound too alarming to me either way.Moser 9" TruTrac w/LCA relocation brackets, 4.11 gear, PST Drive Shaft with safety loop, BMR LCA's, 2-pt weld-in SFC's & Trak Pak torque arm, Koni 4/4 shocks, Strano springs, UMI adjustable on-car PHB, SLP LM2, Kooks 1-7/8" LT's, Kooks 3" ORY, Hurst Billet Shifter, Spec Stage 3+ clutch with steel flywheel, RPM Level IV T56, Nitto 555r drag radials, SLP line lock, R1 Concept drilled/slotted premium rotors and Procharger D1SC w/Meth, FMIC and all the amenities. 500rwhp/440rwtq on 8psi

Agree with Jon. It sounds like your cooling system is working properly. If you're relying on the stock guage, it's more than likely not giving you a completely accurate reading.

The fans should be able to keep it fairly cool, even at a standstill. Is the water pump flowing like it should?

Forgot to mention the water pump is electric. Have never had the stock gage go over 220 but should it reach that with a 180 stat

I have a 160 stat and my car climbs to 220 sometimes on hot days when I'm idling in traffic. Usually drops back down to around 195 or so once I get moving again. I'm only running a single radiator fan though and not the dual fans. Mine runs hotter than it used to since the install of the FI set-up though.
Coolant level is OK? Verified fans are coming on at the right temps?
Again, I think you're OK. Just keep an eye on it for now. I'd also check, like mentioned, that the coolant is flowing like it should be.

My old lt1 had a nasty air bubble which caused it to shoot up to 220. Checknfor that man.
Also realize those sensors fail like no other. Its 16 bucks for autozone

Have you checked the radiator. If you have some buildup inside it may cause this problem while sitting.

All the sensors are new. I will check to see if there is any air in the system, i thought I bled it out but there might be more.

Wow thats a new one. So it was actually pulling nice hot engine bay air back through the radiator, and keeping fresh air from coming through it from the front at the same time. lolz. Glad you found the issue.
