Starting problem

for the past couple of months my car has been starting sometimes, and sometimes it doesnt. It doesnt matter if its hot or cold, i`ve tested the starter, battery, and alternater ...all good.when i turn the key it doesnt do anything but when i turn it back to pull the key out i can here the starter wind and all my lights go out except my security light stays on for a little longer.if anybody can help that would be great

I'd check your disributor. It's kind of hard to tell based on the description you gave, but based on the sounds of it it isn't the plugs and wires. If your key has the chip on it, you might need a new key, maybe that chip isn't contacting right sometimes, so if you have a spare try that. If you can give a little bit better description and I'm sure some of the more senior car guys can help and provide you with better answers.

well jump starting it works, and sometime it wont start first thing in the morning and sometimes it will be right after i shut it off.When i turn the key it doesnt do anything, its just dead.not sure what other details you need so please let me know ill be glad to give them

Its that damn security system. Mine did that, it wouldn't start for awhile and the security light would stay on. Still don't know how to fix it or what caused it. I changed the starter, so it starts every time, but the light stays on.

I always wondered if that security light really works. So if the alarm goes off, it kills the motor too. interesting. And even the little security light flashes. how special. Its so cool. =)
