Red- 1995 Trans Am 6 Speed
Retire What to Buy
Folks, have a 1995 Trans Am 6 speed with 103K and its time for new tires. Got 6 years (1 year with previous owner) and just about 40K on a set of General XP2000Z4 (size P245/50ZR-16).
Now General does not make this size tire any more. So need a set that will give me 35 to 40K, all weather (never know when you might hit rain or snow)
I am a conservative driver (lower end of 50) and need tires that grip, can last 35K. Put on about 3K miles a year with times I do like to get out of my own way.
So what is best? Eagles, Yokoma, Michellan????
Thanks.

Wow, thats a high mileage requirement... I'm not sure what would last that long Check out www.tirerack.com, read some reviews, check out tire specs.

Well, I got 25k out of my Eagle GS D3. Love the tread pattern, but not so much the mileage I got. I admit to some very aggressive driving, tho. Burnouts are not out of the question for me at times. So, these have a Goodyear tread rating of 220. Cost near $230 each. Now, I am looking at the new Goodyear F1 all season. Tread rating of 340, so I am expecting near 35k before they wear out, they have carbon fiber sidewalls, and they are priced about $195 each. My size is 275/40/17.

I'd say either Goodyear F1 all season tires or BF Goodrich KDWS TA tires

I actually knew someone once, who had to ride on a short, Blue bus! So as a gag, we went and got him a crash helmet and told him he had to wear it everyday! He was the only one that wore a helmet everyday for like a year!
No one could get him to take it off! We cracked jokes constantly, and we all couldn't stop laughing for a whole flippin year!
Yes, he was Retarted, and Yes, I know I am going to Hell!

I picked up a set of Falken's, they are working real nice for me. great on dry and wet pavement... never driven them in the snow yet, but i dont think they'd preform too well at all.
If you want all season, go BFG.

I didnt know that there is such a thing as a "Z" rated tire that is all weather and will last 40,000 miles. But if you find 1, some of us would like to know about it, i am sure!!!

"The Eagle RSA (QFZ) all-season Z-rated tire was introduced and available on the Z28, in addition to the Eagle GS-C (QLC) high-performance Z-rated tire."
Info from Camarosource.com.

No idea dude. The post just said they had no idea Z-rated tires existed. Just wanted to show who made them and they did exist. You'd have to check reviews on them or call a discount tire or something. I'm sure they'd know better than I would.
