thats what I was gonna do, but honestly, if you plan on doin headers anytime soon, I would forget about it.
pick up a set of long tubes, and a ORY. the sound will be WAY WAY better then factory manifolds.

You'll only gain a few horsepower, it will smell like shit, and be annoyingly loud.

Silver / black- 95 Z28
exhaust should be one full project
I have a 95 Z28, I got edelbrock shorty headers and magnaflow 3" and I got a 3" pipe to delete my cat. Sounds bad ass but if you are just gonna chop off your cat for the hell of it, I advise against it. Not worth it and then you also gotta check your state regulations if you have to do emissions. In illinois my car is old enough to where I dont need to worry about them but if you have ass hole cops watch yourself

If you want to keep your stock manifolds (for what ever reason) use a MAC off road Y pipe. It will bolt up to the factory manifolds, That is if you can get them unbolted without breaking the studs off. I have a 97 and I just did LT headers and ORY. When I tried to unbolt the stock Y from the manifolds I only got 1 nut off without breaking them. Your best bet is to do headers and a Y at the same time. MAC & BBK both have shorty headers that you can get with a Catted Y or off raod Y. Another rout would be long tubes and you can get them from Pacesetter, LPP, Hooker, ect. Most of those come with an Off Road Y pipe. You can add Cats to them if you want to, or have to pass emissions, but its is going to have to be done custom by your self or an exhaust shop.

On another note, the other bad thing about gutting your cat is your are kinda throwing some money down the drain. I heard that these cats (used) are now going for some decent money, even if they are just scrapped b/c of the metals inside of them. One guy was selling random cats for 100 bucks a pop...
