My first V8 Camaro. Have some questions
Is the 700r4 to stock trans in the 94 Z? just got a 94 yesterday with t-tops and an A4. the tranny slips BAD. is there some sensors or anything that i should check first? also, can you use the 700r4 from an S-10 or do i have to get the v8 specific from camaro? any other cars share this trans besides firebird and vette?
I am now on the Dark Side of the force!

A 94 will have a 4l60E which is almost the same as a 700r4 except it has computer connections. Don't mistake a 4l60 for a 4l60E. A 4l60 is the same as a 700r4; no computer connection (missing the E for electronic designator).
I've been told that 4l60e transmissions have different internal clutch packs for the v6 compared to the v8. There is no difference on the outside of the transmission. I'm not absolutely certain this is correct, but sounds like something GM would do. So you'll want one that was matted to a v-8.
As for a quick fix....I'm not certain of a sensor change that would help, but I'd try to change the fluid and filter. It would probably only be a temp fix before it totally let go.

i'll post some pics in about an hour. it's ugly just so everyone knows. but it was a good deal i believe at $900. motor is solid and body is solid. needs LOTS of plastic interior trim pieces, a tranny and paint job.

those look GOOD! My plans for the camaro include black exterior and grey interior. but i've gotta get the tranny fixed and locate all my plastic pieces first. went to local pull a part (going back for half price day today) and they had a 94 96 and a 2002 v6 that someone already gutted the interior from. i'll be grabing the two MINT condition doors today for 25 each

Yeah, i'm used to it now. i got the doors today and some guy took the front clip complete with fenders and hood. I left the hatch because for one i couldn't carry it alone and two it wouldn't fit in the car. i'll be selling the doors after i remove the tinted glass if anyone is interested.

Metallic Blue- 94 Z28 A4 T Tops 52K MINT
First off congrats on your first Z28!!! They can be a bitch at times but are still worth it.
No the 700R4 is not the stock trans for a 1994 F-Body. The only stock auto trans that came in any F-Body was the 4l60E. And in 1993 they used the 4L60. 94 was the first year for the 4L60E in the camaros/t/a's.
If your trans is slipping bad, it's most likely your sunshell has cracked and caused the cluthes to be out of line, which is causing the slip. The cure is a complete trans rebuild. Might want to look into performabuilt trans. You will get a much better trans than oem rebuild, for not much more money.
