M6 owners
I have found 1 other person that is experiencing the exact same problem I have. I will explain and hope we can find more that have the same and maybe a couple that have found a fix.
Crusing down the street in my 97 running along in 3rd coming upto a stop lite and slow to a roll. Pop it out of gear and wham it jumps to 2000 rpms and stays there until fully stopped.
Driving down the street and actually trying to do the limit all i have to do is put it in third and the car will speed upto 2000 rpms all i have to do is steer and brake unless going up hill. If i am in 4th the car will do 40 without me touching the gas.
Vaccum is solid holding 17 at idle and i pulled the canister line off 12 hours after driving/running the car and the system was still under vaccum.
I have talked to my tuner madz28 and there are no settings changed that would cause this.

do you have any software to check the iac? if not it go buy some electronic contact cleaner and take it out and clean it. also what tb are you running? might be a spring issue starting to show its ass. i've never had this issue so i am shooting from the hip.

I HAVE FOUND ANOTHER...
So this makes three of us so far. So a bad spring on the iac? We have come to the conclusion cleaning it won't fix it and it does not have to do with reteaching a pcm after a fresh burn or power cut...I will pass the info on and see...Thanks...

My car will sometimes idle high until it's warmed up. == Exactly as you describe.
After warmup it idles higher while driving than while stopped, but not 2000 rpm. More like 1100 in motion, 800 stopped (rough estimates).
Any codes in your computer?
I haven't noticed anything since I cleaned my throttle body (removed, thouroughly cleaned, replaced all gaskets), but it wasn't exactly an everyday occurance before.
