    LT4 Hotcam Advice?

I have a 96 LT1 camaro, i am going to port/polish the heads and intake and figure what the heck, i'm in there lets do a cam. I am looking at the LT4 hot cam and have some concerns. Do i need to replace the lifters with roller lifters? Also how will this affect my smog as i live in California? any advice would be great, I want to start this process asap. Thanks in advance!

you should have hydraulic roller lifters from factory....they are fine

as far as emissions.........its not gonna happen. with a 112 lsa, a lot of extra air/fuel has a chance of passing out of the exhaust port. it has mild duration numbers, but the lt4 hotcam is not good for emissions at all.

somthin with a 114-116 lsa will sound closer to stock, and maybe be better for fuel milage, and emissions too.........just a thought

Incorrect. With proper tuning the HOT cam will pass smog in all 50 states, even California. Been there, done that. Many guys around here have pass the sniffer with the HOT cam over the years as it was pretty much the largest cam you could run in an LT1 and pass emissions for a long time. The LE1 223/230 cam and CC503, both on a 112 lobe and very similar to the HOT cam are two other emissions friendly choices.

The factory lifters are fine. Your going to need 1.6 rockers to make the most out of that cam, as well as springs. You might as well buy the HOT cam kit which comes with everything you need.
