As for the original question... There are other ways to go about getting that much power for a better price. Stock ported LT1 heads and a matched cam will offer more power at a lower price.

ok why!? what do you have against LS1's it would be cheaper to buy a whole new engine then buy the LT4 kit.

i can get the kit cheaper than listed, not to worried bout the money part anyways. i dont really wanna go with a new engine right now, besides if i went that direction it would cost me more money anyways cause i would want to build it even more.

Pretty much what they said... it is cheaper and more effecient to port your own heads or purchase AFR heads and get a more specific cam to match then it is to do the lt4 conversion kit from GM. Even if money is no option, its STILL better to go the other way, because you will get MORE HORSEPOWER and a MUCH more efficient match for your heads.

Well speaking as someone who did the LT4 conversion... that 425 hp they claims is measured at the crank and could even be measured by a Dyno-Jet... I'm not sure. All I know is what my car is capable of... I'm pushing 330 hp and 315 ft/lbs at the rear tires as measured by a Mustang dyno. It's a very costly build... especially if you have the LT4 heads CNC machine ported and polished. My best time is sub 11.99... but I have extensive mods to get me there... 3.73 gears, 2800 stall, subframe connectors, suspension, comp cam and valve train... blah-blah-blah...
