    LT1 Rebuild

iv got a 96 LT1 w/159,000 miles on it and im thinkn its time for a rebuild, not looking to do anything special just pull it, get it rebuilt, and stab it, prolly do an egr & air delete so i can run some off road kooks long tubes. so w/ all that out of the way, how much do you think a typical speed shop(ill be using Speed Tek in fort worth, tx) would charge to do all of it-pull, rebuild or send out to get rebuilt to factory specs, and stab it back in? iv got more money than time, i work 6 days a week at a ford dealership and after working on all those peices of shit all week i barely have time to wash my baby much less pull the engine. thanks for the insight

Could vary alot, depending on what the engine needs, parts wise, and what parts you choose to put in it. Labor alone will probably be at least 2000$, for pulling it, actually rebuilding it, and putting it back in. I say 2000$ as a minimum, could very well be more. Plus machine work and parts, you could be looking at a 4-5K$ project.

    Question

well City Motor Supply in dallas has a premium long block listed on their web site for $1300, its the LT1 block(2 bolt main) w/alluminum heads, but it says the price doesnt include the lifters? sounds pretty good if you ask me, what do u think

if you're just looking for a stock motor to go back in, then buying an already assembled crate motor may be the way to go for you. 1300$ is cheaper than you could rebuild the longblock for.
