    LT1 help?????

I am about to purchase a '96 impala ss from a friend of mine. He just had the engine professionally rebuilt completely stock. My question, to whomever can assist me is this. What would be the best way for me to get some ooomph out of the factory Lt-1 w/out building it all over. I have heard that i should supercharge it, But I don't know if I should do that on a stock motor???????

I have heard of people doing the LT4 kits, and being very pleased with it. I guess the biggest question is the overall goal for the car. Simple bolt ons can take you a ways - ie. LT headers, exhaust, intake, ect. Or you can go further, ie. cam, heads, ect.

good matched heads/cam along with headers will give you impressive power. i can't remember the name of the company but they make 3 stages of heads and matched cams. i will find it and post links if nobody beats me to it. HUGE gains beyond the LT4 stuff.

If you are going that far may as well get a 383 stroker kit.

You could go cam and tune. But i don't know about cam options/availability due to the vehicles weight. You may have to go higher torque than hp just due to the weight of the vehicle. which will limit cam options. Port the intake and heads do a high torque cam, tune, exhaust. it'll feel nice when you step on it anyway.

edelbrock says 386hp with their intake and 52mm throttle body tuned. but it also says tested on aluminum head Lt1.
