lt1 et time argument
well my girlfriends dad has a 95 lt1 m6 with intake and cat back. the wheels are regular street tires maybe 255s. hes swears he is a great driver ,which i don't doubt, but he also claims to be able to run a 12.80, my thought is more in the 14.0 mayby 13.8 range,
it took headers, air lid, tune, 3.73, underdrive, just to get my ls1 camaro into the 12.70 range
he hasn't taken it yet but hopefully does, what do you guys think?

my car is about the same as the one you discribed and i would lose to a stock ls1 so your awnser is no he will not run 12.8 that way maybe w/ nos but still in street tires i doubt it. if it does see if he wants to sell it!

actually he is selling it to my girlfriend, but may take it to gateway first to try and prove a point. don't get me wrong, i do like those cars but, hes gonna be pissed when he sees that 14.0 time slip.
and to top it off, he hasn't been to the track since 1970,and has never seen one of these cars run. he got mad when i said 14.0 and thats were i just stopped talking about it. we'll see what happens, and when he does go to the track i'll post his times

i hate arguing about cars, i love talking about cars, when someone tells me im wrong i try not to get defensive and maybe just agree with them,
this reminds me of the time this kid in a civic told me my ls1 is only capable of high 14s..........WHAT............. well lets race, sure enough his "12 second car" got beat by my stock (at the time) 13.5 second camaro

If he is good at shifting and knows the car, 13.8 will be very possible.
I can run 14.0 with mine and I suck at shifting.
12.8? Not on a stocker.

Some LT1s have ET'd around 13.6 stock with great traction, at around 101. An intake and a catback might gain him 20-25hp, so he could presumably knock off a couple tenths and get a solid mid 13, maybe a 13.3-13.4 on a well prepped track on street tires. 12s though...

A friend of mine went 13.6 at 105 in a 96 ws6 ta with a K&N filter. 58 degree night though. Never happened again. In fact it might have been a touch cooler even. If he runs a 12.8 start looking for some hiddin gas somewheres.

def not 12.8...sounds like the guy who claimed it just doesnt know what hes talkin about...however i can see mid 13's
01 m6 z28 - lid / lt headers / 3' ory w no cats / flowmaster catback w 3' dmh e-cutout / nelson pcm tune

he might be able to do it but heres what you need to look for. a missing interior, no ac/ps/heater box, no carpet, only a driver seat, drag racing brake kit, light weight rims, slicks, more bolt ons than stated, god in the glove box (since passanger seat is missing), and be a good driver that knows the car (not a guy that hasen't been to the track since the 70's) lol

If that's all he really has on that car and thinks that he can hit 12's, he's a moron and not worth the air wasted arguing with him.

buddy ran a 13.3 with eagle f1's,and a 12.9 on et street radials, all he had was a catback and a tune.
it was a 95, 6 speed Z28 and a single cat car at that
i have the time slip to prove this, it can be done.

yes thats the thing et streets=damn good times, but regular street tires=2.0 60 foot at best
i did run an lt1 at the track that had the bfg 255 et streets, also with other bolts ons, don't know for sure, but went 13.3 on an 80 degree night
its not going to be cooler then 75 when he goes, and i know temp has a huge factor on time,
over the 2006 year my car ranges from 13.15 to 13.5 all stock 2000 ls1, car was consistent all through a single night, but on 80 degree nights i saw 13.5 consistent and on 60 degree nights i saw 13.15 best and 13.2 consistent
