    LT1 engine swap

ok i done it, i totaled my 96Z . A car pulled out in front of me and the road was wet, nothing much i could do but anyway. I have a 1986 s-10 pickup truck, it already has a sbc 350 in it, with turbo-350 transmission. Im planning on pulling it out and putting the lt1 and t-56 from my camaro into it. Anyone here done that kinda swap before? What should i expect? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    John

p.s just so you know, i also have a 00 z28 with the LS1 in it, auto trans, 2.73 gears, the 96 z28 would smoke it the 96 had 3.42 gears.

New crossmember, or may be able to get away with modifying the current one. Modify the floorpan for the shifter (might have to get a longer shifter stick too). Shouldnt need a new driveshaft, but check on it's clearance anyway. Other than that it's all going to be wiring in the LT1 harness and computer, and routing the LT1 reverse cooling system.

Oops, if you are going with the T56, you may need a nes driveshaft. The tranny is pretty long. But all the rest of this info is damn good!

The only thing that makes me a bit unsure on the driveshaft, is that all fourth gen f bodies, auto or manual, use the same driveshaft, and a 4L60 should be the same length as a th350 (assuming the th350 has the short tailshaft on it)

Painless has a whole universal wiring harness for the LT1 that not only makes swaps like that easier but also delivers a pretty decent boost in power too! Not sure about the $ though, I haven't priced it.
