    LT1 Computer

I have a 93 LT1 what is the options with a tune with this computer compared to a 99 LS1.
Can we swap it with a 99's or a better aftermarket? and if you do what all is involved? I have been searching on here for a answer or articles about what I can do. Anyone have any links or info?

You can tune the PCM via a dyno tune, mail order tune through a company such as pcmforless.com, tune it with your own software and laptop, or get a reprogammer from Diablo or Hypertech (not recommended).
As far as I know, the basic principles hold true for 93-02 f-bodies as far as tuning the PCM. And I don't think you can swap the PCM's, never heard of doing that before. Don't think it would improve anything, 2 different engines.

I wonder what advantages I would have between a 94 computer or a 97. I will swap the computer the question is which one to swap it with.

I don't think swapping the computers will do much, could actually mess up your car. The PCM's for the 93's have different information than the 94's, as well as the 97's. The 93 LT1's are a tad different than later LT1's. Such as smaller injectors and no MAF. I wouldn't waste your time trying to swap computers, just get a tune with the one you have to accomodate mods and bolt-ons.

The injectors have been changed to a larger injector not sure yet which injectors. Hopefully I will pick the car up this week and disect it then and see what all has been done. Not sure about the MAF either I know he aslo has a 58mm which I think may be overkill for this car.

93 does not contain a reprogramable memory like OBD2 cars the EPROM must be changed with new calibration data there are several makers of "chips" for the 92-94 LT1 (I might be off my a year the 94 may have RAM instead of ROM)

I just looked it up and the 93's has the removable EPROM, but the 94's got the programmable PCM with the chip soldered in so couldn't be removed. But 94's have OBD1 (As I should know because I have one )

    LT1s were OBD1 through 96. In 97 they became OBD2.
I suggest staying with the OBD1 if it is programmable, because you can buy Tunercat for it. Some 97 owners have actually gone backwards so they can tune it themselves.
Either way, you can't put an LS1 PCM in an LT1, as far as I know.

actually 96 is obdII. and 95 is obdI but with an obdII access plug. as for everything else you are right on the money. i would recomend getting a 94 harness and pcm. that will alow you to edit and play all day long. oh yea you would need to get a maf also.
