LT1 Cats
Is it hard to do a conversion of stock lt1 with single cat to long tubes headers with double hi-flow cats??? I heard that the single cat is very restrictive.
Thanks

I wouldn't think it would be too difficult. Just attach the cats right after the collectors of the LT's. Not sure, but you might be cramped for space on the driver's side though since it wasn't originally designed for dual-cats. But I wouldn't worry about it though, it won't make that much of a difference.

pretty much only 1 company out there makes preformed dual hiflow cat ypipes and they are designed for stock/stock compadible exhuast manifolds/headers ie short tubes.... as far as i have come across anyway. fortunatly exhuast fabrication is cheap

BlackLT1Z28, i suppose you have LT's with ORY so you dont have the cats room issues?

Well, kinda. Its weird. I have visual inspection where I am, so I have to have a visible cat to be street-legal. I have pacesetter LT's with the Pacesetter ORY, but I hacked my old cat off and had a shop put it on the ORY I have. But with the factory placement of the cat, it sits in the stock location, but it only affects the right-bank of cylinders. If you look you look up pics of the pacesetter Y for the LT1, the smaller right piece is basically a cat now. Fits and drives fine, but I don't think there would be much room for one on the other side...at least, not right after the collector.
I don't think going with dual cats over a single cat will make much of a difference on the street though.

cats
according to gms specs the single cat cars were rated at 275hp and the 96 97 dual cats were rated at 285 hp so you would think a 10 hp difference with dual cats, just a suggestion try to buy 2 resonators from someone with a gto whose cut them off so at visual inspection it will appear to have cats
