The tube is supposed to baffle the intake sounds.

You can take the tube off and RTV and clamp in a deodertant cap, but there is no garuntee that it wont leak or get sucked up.

The 1LE elbow is nice. It fits better then most of the aftermarket elbows.

i got a vortec elbow when the stock on started to crack. it looks nice, but is a pain in the ass to get it to fit right getting it on is easy getting it straight can be frustrating especially with a k&n cai. the two are a bit of an akward fit but it can work with some time. some times i wish i just went with the 1le but i like the look of the vortec better

You dont have to cut it. The plastic tubes that hangs down come out of the intake. The opening that is left can be capped.

Go with a 1LE if you don't care about looks. Otherwise, the Trick Flow elbow has great fitment.

The 1LE elbow is nice, fits great and the baffle is eliminated.

I ran one on my wifes 97 Z, then the car was totaled.

Was on the car for a very short time, I pulled it off before the car was hauled away. Paid $65 from GM for it.

Give me $40 plus shipping and it's yours.

Most guys will tell you no. I personally felt improvement in the seat of the pants (or butt dyno) with high-flow elbows, but no real numbers to advertise. But with a cold air kit it definitely wouldn't hurt.

It should,,,thats what it was designed for. It eliminates the baffle.
Although the snout is still there for the tube to connect to,,,if you look inside it's completely smooth and blocked off.
I had mine on both with the stock air intake and a cold air setup. I personally can't say for sure if the elbow alone did anything or not.
