    Getting a new camaro

Well new to me but im looking for a camaro i can putt around in during the week so i can turn my ls1 into an all out monster... I'm debating on a 3rd gen with a 383 lt1 in it with about 100+ miles on the body and 12XXX on the motor or a stock 97 ss red real matching slp with 14698 miles on it what do you think... should i go with the slp or the 3rd gen

Out of the two, for putting, I'd say the 97 SS. It'll hold value, putts at better gas mileage, more dependable, looks better IMO.

I'd take the 97SS even if the 3rd gen was a 10 second car, not even close. Put up some pictures of this low mileage 97SS.

I say 97 as well. The third gens are all metal and if your putt putting around and parking anywere the 97 only has metal rear quarters so the rest wont dig as easy. Only have to worry about the rear quarters. Then when your done with the LS you can throw a tweeked lt1 in the 97 and have two or just sell it. The third gen is not going to draw the buying crowd like a 4th gen.

That 97SS must be priced a little higher. A true 97 SLP SS isn't the most common car...

That's the one I would go with, although I'd almost hate to see that car being a daily driver.

the 97 is on the left its my friends dads camaro, his is all the way on the right and it ran a 10.6, and his dad just got a new Grand Sport corvette and wants to sell the camaro... he said he would let it go for 16thousand because of the such low miles

It is a fairly rare car, and it does have very low miles on it, but I'm still not sure it's worth 16K. I just think it isnt old enough or collectible enough to most people to command much over book value. While I would agree that a 01-02 SS is a much more capable car (in a straight line), I still really like the 97 SS cars more than a run of the mill LS1 SS.
