This is a discussion on Gears might be bad. within the LT1 forums, part of the Vehicle Specific category; Just prepare to do the oil pan and timing cover at the same time... you have to drop the pan ...

    Just prepare to do the oil pan and timing cover at the same time... you have to drop the pan to get the timing cover off......

    mmmmmm......I see. Can I just swap the cams out? Or are there other parts involved that I need to replace? tune? Whats a good cam size?

    Umm, yeah, there's alot more involved to swapping a cam. Probably not something you want to get involved with at this point.

    Valve Springs and a tune if you go mild... Pushrods and Full exhaust if you go a little wild.

    pushrods, valve springs, retainers, locks, timing chain set, sometimes lifters, roller rockers, guideplates, valve cover gaskets, front cover and water pump gaskets, etc. Intake manifold has to come out, water pump, radiator, and other things. Full tune needed. etc.
