    First mod?

I have a 1994 Corvette LT1 in a 72 Chevy shortbed. 4L60E, 3:73 posi, S&P headers, K&N filter. Other than that, bone stock. What should my first modification be to increase the HP?

    Thanks.

My very next mod if I were you would be a cold-air intake system if you just have the K&N in the stock airbox. Then after that, a cat-back system.

It is an LT1 in a truck. Probably already has a custom intake and exhaust.

As for the next mods.... bigger cam, ported heads, upgraded valvetrain, custom tune, bigger converter for the cam along with built tranny.

Oops! My bad. When I saw 72 LT1 I didn't look at the whole picture . I thought maybe the guy (or gal) had a '72 Camaro or 'vette LT1 sitting next to a 4th gen LT1.

Yes, custom exhaust, no cats. The intake is a camero elbow with the K&N and sits behind the radiator. So the first step is to move the intake in front of the radiator.

I'm on a budget, heads before cam?

No! Preferably both at the same time. But if budget doesn't allow for that, then go cam first.

Any suggestions on a head and cam package? Mostly street driven, but wouldn't mind a trip down the strip.

The LE1 Package from Lloyd Elliot is good. It's emissions legal (or atleast was in my case), offers a great powerband for the street, and not too expensive. I ran the combo back in '04 on a '93 Z28 w/ a forged 355 and made just over 370rwhp with it.
