    Exhaust ?s

Ok guys, going to carlisle this weekend for gm nats and i plan to pick up an exhaust while im up there. Heres the ? since ive only delt with ls1 exhaust in the past... will all the ls1 systems bolt up to a 97 LT1 T/A... im either thinking magnaflow or loudmouth... i know the loudmouth requires the adapter kit but what alls involved in that? Any advice you can give me would be great. Thanks

EDIT: im also purchasing a QTP electronic cutout... anyone ever installed one? how did you do it and how hard was it?

No, LS1 style exhaust will not bolt up to an LT1. Its just the position of both y-pipes. But you picked out both great catbacks. LM is meaner sounding, but magnaflow is just as good with a mellower sound. Most will tell you that if you are going with longtubes later, stay away from LM for the drone and rasp. Its personal preference really.

As far as the cutout, most have to be welded in and then the wiring for the electric cutout. I've only heard of one 'bolt-on' cutout, but I only heard it advertised for the LS1.

Ive been told the 96 and 97 obd2 cars have the same y pipe as the ls1 cars... any truth to that?

I honestly have no idea on that one. I would go with a no, but I have never heard of that.

The LS1 catbacks will bolt up to a 96-97. I bought the TSP rumbler catback which was designed for LS1s, and I was told I would need the SLP adapter kit. The adapter includes a rubber thing and a bracket. I installed it without using the adapter and it tucks up way better than stock.

Between Loudmouth and Magnaflow I would choose the Loudmouth. The whole rasp issue is only for LS1 cars, LT1s have a much deeper sound. The loudmouth will sound nicer and you wont have to look at a big square muffler under your bumper. The TSP rumbler is also nice, but its aluminized and not stainless.

Good news! went to GM Nats, and aside from being an awesome show, I got exhaust. I got a full Magnaflow catback (minus tips) for 230 dollars! list price on ws6 store is 437 plus shipping... cant beat that. I put it on saturday morning and it sounds great. Really really nice note to it... way better than the loudmouths on my LS1 when i had it. Just gotta go to pepboys now and pick up some cheap magnaflow tips to finish it all off... but overall im estatic.
