    Dumb question again

I know those has been asked a bunch of times maybe we should make this a sticky and change the title but I always get mixed up with number difference between an LT1 and LS1. Now that I finally have an LT1 (M6) I am trying to figure out what I have. LS1 is usually 350 to the crank and around 300 to the wheels right? An an LT1 is either 285 or 315 to the crank? If someone can please help tell me again and maybe make this a sticky that would be great.

Uh, I believe factory ratings are something like this:
    93-95 LT1 - 275 crank hp
    96-97 LT1 - 285 crank hp
    98 LS1 - 305 crank hp
    Other year LS1's - 325 crank hp

These were just factory ratings, not what everyone experiences. But yes, some have dynoed their stock LS1's to 300+hp at the wheels.

96-97 SS cars were rated at 305hp. I believe some LT1 Firehawks may have been rated at 310hp, although I'm not positive.

    01-02 LS1 cars were 310hp, and 01-02 SS and Firehawk was 325hp. 98-00 SS/Firehawk were 320hp.

1996-97 SS cars were rated at 305hp with the stock Z28 exhaust, 310hp with the optional exhaust.

I read somewhere that 95% of the 1996 SS cars came with the optional exhaust - the "2 on the left".

LT1 Firehawks were rated 315hp at the crank. Their mid 13 second runs indicated that number was legit.

You like the true duals huh . I tried them, but they got annoying (SLP 1-3/4 Long Tubes/ORX/Bassani's). Single system ever since.

At 17 years old, I probably would have agreed with you. By 21 I figured out that loud pipes get old fast. I get enough loud from my racecar, where it gets pretty loud even with my radio headset/ear plugs and nomex hood on under my helmet
