I have a friend with a 95 T/A with the LT1 in it, we were wondering if there have been any problems with the stock distributor in the car?? and if so what kind should we go with?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA do a search for optispark and you will find all the answers you need. Bottom line is they suck and fail quite often

I think the factory AC Delco unit is fine. Some use the new MSD unit. You can always go with the LTCC kit or the new Deltec kit, I might do that one if my opti it compromised.

there is also a kit on the market that will allow you to put a "regular " distributor in your car

it gives you a new intake and a new distributor

not cheap , but worth it imo after a few optis have gone out

I've heard about that. I think they are over in Europe somewhere, like Sweden. Shipping is not cheap overseas...

But you will have to drop the motor just to change the distributor if if goes bad.

They are definately a chore to replace. They are in a terrible location and IS the worst thing about the LT1.
