That engine raises a big red flag for me. I just used a CAST eagle rotating kit that I built my self and it looks like the same thing he did but he says it's ballanced for use with the stock fly wheel. That means he would have had to have ballanced it because eagle kits that are ballanced are ballanced to zero and you CAN NOT use the factory flex or fly wheel. You need a neutrally ballanced flex or flywheel. also that kit costs 1300 for a builder to buy with cast crank, Ibeam rods and cheap pistons unballanced!!! now he has the cost of ballance, align hone, cylinder hone, clearance, and clean. Not to mention the cost of the block. Also it looks like he just took down the heads and didn't do any kind of porting so thiere most likley stock with new springs, that means more cost and it wont make much more power. It cost me about 2000 to 2400 for the rotating kit, block align honed, cylinder hone, size for bearing and 2 cleanings I clearanced it, assembled it. The kit alone was 1650. for a ballanced one. I don't know. I would do a lot of research before jumping into that.

As for doing it your self, you can spend 2000 to 5000+ on a short block. It's hard to say what a machine shop is going to charge you to do the block. You should have some kind of build in mind. If you want to run nos, or boost or just N/A, it all starts in the short block as far as what type of rod, crank, and piston size has a lot to do with it!!!
