    93 LT1 Z-28 Surging and Cutting Off

    My 93 LT1, 110k miles, is surging badly during normal driving and also is cutting off when I decellerate. I have to keep one foot on the gas and one foot on the brakes at red lights, or she will die. I turn the key, it cranks right up. Seems to surge the most between 1500 and 2500 rpms. I just replaced fuel filter, plugs, etc, she is not throwing any codes. Any ideas??????

    IAC valve could be messed up. It controls idle speed. Works like a choke on an old carburator system. No codes would be hard to troubleshoot.

    I removed the throttle body and IAC and cleaned both and reinstalled. It helped some, but not much. Still dies constantly at idle, so Im going to buy a new IAC and try that.

    also, when Im coming to a stop "Low Trac" light comes on and car surges before I stop, every time. Any ideas???

    are you sure your SES light bulb is working? It lights up when you turn the key to the on position and the engine off. You should be getting a code in the ECM. (especially if it dies).

    does it smell rich..like alot of fuel when it dies.

    Your right Idle Air control....sometime the tables need playing around with add any exhaust or intake mods recently...

    I'm thinkiing ls1 troubleshooting.....but it can't be much different...i had an Lt1....rock solid motors. except for opti.

    though once he's been driving .....choking for air......or the computer dumping fuel.

    you did do a spark plug change and wire right? Always eliminate the obvious

    yes, new plugs, wires, fuel filter, removed and cleaned TB and IAC.

    no check engine light coming on. just dies, I crank it right back up and it does it again.

    what about the surging and "low traction" every single time i come to a stop??

    I don't know anything about the ABS but you can try to disable it by pulling out the fuse or relay for it..

    I recently had problems with my ICM and coil but I was getting an SES light. I've never heard of an LT1 that dies and surges without an SES light. Or any car after 1990 for that matter.
