Metallic Pewter- 2002 Trans Am WS.6
Y pipe questions...
if you get headers, do you need to upgrade the y pipe? or can you keep the stock one. What is the difference between an upgraded y-pipe and the stock one? One more question, if I just get long tube headers and a corsa exhuast, would I be able to make it through emmisions when my car gets inspected? Also are headers extreamly, obnouxiously loud? because this is my everyday car. Need answers because I am looking to upgrade everything in July...

Headers are louder, but not obnoxiously loud unless you remove the cats. If you get long tubes, you will either need to by a new y-pipe or have one fabricated. The stock y-pipe won't work with long tubes. I think if you did a combination of long tubes+y-pipe w/cats+Corsa catback you would be very pleased and your car would not be obnoxiously loud.

Wow that's great! thanks for the response. Do i need to buy high flow cats? and is it 1 or 2. Also after i do all this, will it be able to go through inspection with the emissions? Also how much do you estimate will the long tubes, y-pipe, cats and corsa exhaust cost with intallation? Also if I added an air lid box with smooth bellows what would my estimated hp be? I know it is a lot of questions, but I am really serious about this and want to know what I am getting into.

The stock Y pipe is so skinny that even without headers a aftermarket Y should do something. The stock one looks like it would be a pretty big restriction.
