Beats me!.. my only theory would be somebody was to cheap to put out the extra money needed for 17 inch tires, and found cheap rims...

Sounds like a logical conclusion. The 16 inchers are cheaper to put tires on.

Could be the previous owner curbed it, ruined a rim or 3, and got a great deal on some 16s. I've ruined two of my OE wheels, I bought two from the junkyard and those two set me back $550.

The chrome 16's suck anyway. My chrome was peeling off 3 of 4 rims. That;s the main reason I got new rims or I would have put the cash in a cam and done the wheels later. the curbed idea sounds about right or maybe a big pothole. Bent a 17 on my girls Mazda 3 in the rain, didn't even see the hole till the whole rim was swallowed.

Yeah it sucked. I could've bought some replicas from a wheel supplier we use at work, my cost was $275 each, but they did not have the GM logo opposite the valve stem like the OE wheels do. The junkyard wheels have a few minor scratches on them, but they are straight, and they have the GM logo also.

$275 for 17" replica's. My 18's were less that that each.

I wanted staggered rims. I actually Wanted 17" TT2's 1st but these were in stock and cheaper with tires mounted, balanced, and shipped. 18x8.5 and 18x10. Polished TT2's are more trouble to clean, I had some on my Ranger 5.0 Flareside. I wanted TT2's but chromed, told me 6 to 8 weeks and I don't like waiting that long 4 anything.

I was happy enought after I got them and put them on. I wanted wider rims and found a place in Dallas that does it. I want them expanded to an 11" wide so i can run wider tires. Too much spin and I haven't even put the 3.73's in yet.I liked the black chrome better. I don't think they make them anymore though. It was a multi piece wheel and more money. I got these a while ago and never saw anyone else with them, now I seen a few local but at least there black not chrome.

I hate waiting for things to, I want it NOW dammit when it's time to get it.

Your wheels look nice, I like the chrome. I also like the look of staggered wheels, but then I don't like how you can't rotate the tires and then you don't get the full mileage from them. And since I'm usually replacing a set on my car about every 25k, I wouldn't want to do it sooner!

My 1999 Trans Am WS6 is a true WS6. I Checked the VIN and had a CarFax on it.
The codes match up and it has 17" WS6 polished rims on it.

That's good it's a true WS6, but when she gets the chance, she should get a se of 17's they are also wider than the 16's I never realized exactly how wide until I bought my '01, my '99 was just a base T/A the '01 is a WS6
