I researched the VIN through Pontiacs Catalog. VIN number does not identify a WS6 only the RPO codes do. Unless someone knows something I'm missing
Not saying your right or wrong nor am I saying the same about me.

Was just curious about this also, because when I called my insurance company to get coverage I gave them the VIN number without telling them what kind of car it was and they said the VIN number I gave them came back as a WS6.

No offence taken. here's a link to a previous post that will describe RPO codes. And If you can, search VIN numbers for Pontiacs, you will see that they are totally different. I used Classic Industries Pontiac edition catalog.

The N2O kit through the air filter, never seen that.
If you mean the spray nozzles attached to the air lid (I don't see pictures) It used to be a common way of doing it if you sprayed a dry system and let the MAF compensate. A buddy of mine did it this way on his camaro. Some people also install the dry system nozzle just after the lid but in front of the MAF. Either way works.

WS6 but the two things that have me twitching are....... a ram air hood WITHOUT the
mesh grills in the front vents. (base model hood replaced and no vents to put in??

Also a factory air lid which is obviously NOT a WS6, that is to say it does not say "ram air"
on the top as it should... Why on earth should this be the case?

Just not sure as the sent pics show WS6 on the RPO sticker and also he has the window sticker.

I reckon i am going to let this one slide, as tempting as it is, as it is a very low miles SOM car.

I just have to be absolutely sure before any cash gets wired anywhere!!

I think a link is deserving of you guys for a look at!!?

That seems to be a good price for such a low milage car. I would be a little concerned about the nitrous setup on it due to the fact the its prob been driven hard a few times. These are very strong motors and with only 18k it should be fine though. It looks REALLY clean. Beautiful car and must of been garage keep. Love the color also.

That's always a concern with a used car. You might be surprised at how many of these things were de-modded before selling or trading them in. Most of them led a hard life, lots of nitrous and abuse that is very easy to remove and conceal. The new owners are none the wiser and the seller keeps it secret so you think you're getting a cream puff.
The way I look at it, in this instance, it's clearly apparent and the seller isn't hiding the fact, so there should be no unexpected surprises later down the road.

    Lots of good pointers here!

That's a very good point about any de-modding before a sale and although i did not
get that impression from this particular seller... he was hard work when it came to get
good info such as the RPO sticker ans other things. It may well have been a good car
but in my position i just have to fear the worst and be glass half empty. As you start
any sort of dialogue with a seller it quickly becomes apparent if you have an uphill battle
or if he is going to be helpful and understanding.

I took all of the precautions anybody could take last time i imported a WS6 and i have
to take the same approach now. It would be the worst thing ever if it got here and it
    was beat to death!!!

I have got a small band of people helping me out in finding that elusive good one and Robbie,
the owner of the GORGEOUS award winning SOM WS6 on here is helping me out also!

    And so to Craigslist..............

    'bout time!

    Well guys,

Haven't posted on "my" find me a car thread for a few weeks.

Trust me, i have been very busy hunting and have finally broke
out the wallet and bought one!

I found one which ticks pretty much every box. It wasn't given away
but equally i knocked the seller down and paid a fair price.

It is a 2002 Pewter WS6 with 46k on it which is adult owned, pretty
much stock apart from a lid and underneath it has sub frame connectors,
Strut brace ( i know... these cars don't have struts but you know what i mean!!).

It's an A4. The interior is unmarked, no door cracks, no dash cracks, original
Monsoon ( I just like original and am not keen on replacement head units!)
Unmarked Speedlines, great tires.... yep it's all going on!!!

It would have been slightly better i suppose if it had already had LT's and stuff
fitted but i can address this as and when i have it home here and have thought
about what brands and all of that. I will certainly be after advice here.

Tuning these cars over here is pretty hit and miss so i will do all of the "bolt on"
mods and get a replacement PCM tuned to suit from Frost once they are done.

It's sat at the port now waiting the next sailing from Charleston to Southampton
so i reckon around mid October I'll have it home!

Thanks for all of the help and advice so far and watch this space.

Congrats man!! Patience pays off. Have fun with the new ride. I like to start fresh and make all my own mods, it's nice to have a unmolested TA.

Nice one, don't forget to post up some pics once you've got it - I'd also be very interested to know what it costs for taxes, import duty and to get it through the I.V.A

I'm beginning to get that WS6 itch and it won't go away. It might eventually take my SS Camaro to scratch it, I'll wait and see.

You guys have it tooooo easy!!!

    Hey Guys ,

    Thanks for the good words!

I have been hunting hi and lo since around late March and it was really
starting to wear thin. Craigslist was the best source of ads but a real
pain in getting people to understand i was not a Nigerian prince after
    all their money!!

Mike.... I actually have a whole raft of pics from my dealing with the seller
and i will get onto this in the morning.

Happily the IVA will never be an issue on these cars as the last year was 2002
and the IVA is a rolling ten years from build date )

To all of you US guys wondering what the hell an IVA test is.... it is the
"Individual Vehicle Approval" test which basically is us poor Brits jumping
through Governmental hoops to ensure an imported car complies with all
of our rules and regs and is fully road legal. But as i said to Mike above,
ten years and older and it is "just" a lighting conversion and the first of
our yearly roadworthiness tests, plus all of the registration stuff to give
    the car it's new plates.

The lighting conversion is fairly simple in that all red lenses must blink amber
for the turn signals and also have a fog light installed at the rear.

The last WS6 i owned had the high level brake light turned into the fog
but was the usual brake light at all other times. The amber was discreetly
done also so the red lens was still all red other than when the turn signal
was on. Lot of sodding about for very little really but there you go!

Funnily enough, any pre '64 US vehicle can retain the all red with no mods.
    Go figure.......???!

lastly Mike.... it will make your eyes water when you understand just how
much all of the taxes and duties mount up to! Just so you darn lucky Americans
can wince with us Brits... it will be around another $7 or $8k on top of the
    purchase price of the car!

Depends whare in the US the car is, too. Mine was in St. Louis Missouri, bang
in the middle and the overland trucking was $750 just to get it to the East coast
port... where it still is, as it missed the 20th sailing and i am waiting to hear when
    the next ship leaves!!

So.... Mike..... that WS6 itch will be expensive, but you can't take it with you!

I remember Jeremy Clarkson a few episodes ago on Top Gear saying "you can't
drive a bank balance" How true!

I should never have sold the last one, but I've covered that previously...

Quite the involved process getting it over there and legal. Hope it all goes smooth and looking forward to some pics.

Holy s$$t!!! so after you pay $12k-$20k for the car, you had to add another $8k to the bill??? That sucks man. Well anyway, once you get it there, take it out for a blast down the road and the smile from ear to ear will make it worth the $$$$!!

Ron... you are dead right. Holy s$$t!! is about right but like you say, once the car is here then
that will make it a lot better, eh!?

I heard from the shipping agent this morning and the car is due to sail on the 4th Sept. with an
arrival date in Southampton of 22nd. We'll see.

Here area couple of pics. The black bra plate is due to him having a front vinyl bra for the car.
I personally hate the things but he is sending it anyway! along with a spare 12CD changer and
a couple of other odds and ends. You are not allowed to pack a car to the gills when it is RO-RO
and so it has to be empty of anything obvious so he has packed things away discreetly.

Apparently he passed a vacuum cleaner over the carpet on sending her off on the truck!!

Pics are smaller than intended but a click on a pic enlarges it

That's a very nice looking car (that itch just got bigger).

What a rip off with the extra costs the government are no more than organised criminals.

One day I will have a WS6 or, failing that, a 5th gen Camaro.

Didn't realize it took that long for a cargo crossing.

    Hey Jeff,

That is actually quite quick as a vehicle cargo ship, as far as i know, sails
    direct.

When my last one came over it was in a container and it went all over the
place and was just short of 5 weeks!!

Have to say that so long as the ship doesn't sink it can take it's time!!!

    Well....

If it arrives as planned on the 22nd or thereabouts it will go
to the premises of the shipping agent to have the damned
    lighting conversion done.

Then it will undergo it's first inspection, then it will get registered,
and finally i can go up and get it and this would, i expect, take it to
around the early part of October. This is assuming the auto electrician
gets straight onto it when the car gets to the shippers premises?!

Lastly this is all going to involve handing over sackfuls of cash to pay
for every aspect of the importation/work.

Def sounds like the government mafia! They make you put in extra lights and such and do the work for you...on their time schedule....at their cost! What a scam. The car looks awesome though. Looks pretty much unmolested and mostly stock. Nice find. I like the 1 pict of the rear license plate flipped over backwards. I hope they realized that DIDN'T hide the plate at all. lol Pretty easy to read still.
