WS6 horsepower numbers
ok, so i was reading somewhere online that '98-'02 Trans-am's are actually underrated when it comes to horsepower just like an '03-'04 Cobra is underrated. i have a '99 WS6 M6 that is pretty much bone stock except a whisper lid and flowmaster exhaust and my mom has a '01 cobra that's completely stock as well. the cobra is supposed to have about 320hp and 310 trq (i believe) so the numbers are close to a TA but whenever i drive the cobra and then jump in mine, my feels so much faster. even my friends say so when they ride with me. so are TA's really underrated when it comes to power??

when i first ran my 2000 bone stock automatic (non ws6) against a bone stock automatic 2002 WS6 in the quarter mile i beat him by a car once and half next. not sure if this is common but i have heard that there are some factory freaks out there. also when i ran it in illinois at the track bone stock i ran 13.3. for my best run. not sure if these are typical numbers but I do have a few more mods done and live in southern cali now so i will get it dynoed in february. just my .02
2000 Arctic White trans am, ws6 hood, ws6 air box, slp lid, slp smooth bellows, slp loudmouth exhaust, shift kit, rebuilt trans, LS6 intake, 3.73 gears, Shaner S3 p/p throttle body, and a tune . SFC. C6 ZO6 rims 18" in back 17" in front. Drilled and slotted rotors.

Well my '01 WS6 is 325 HP/ 350 FT stock, and 'should' run a 13.4 1/4 mile approx, although I hear with a good driver you can hit very low 13's. We'll see next year!

My 02 WS6 has just intake exhaust and the free mods, n i raced my boy recently he has a 02 Mustang GT wit full bolt-ons,drag radials, roll cage, short shifter,3.73gears, and a tune he dynoed at 328hp 346tq i beat him by 2 cars n pulling so u should have about 350hp or more to the wheels.

GM advertised the fbodies with an LS1 anywhere from 310 all the way up to 325. That was at the crank advertising. Realistically, it was about 350 at the crank and on average about 310 at the wheels. GM underrated the HP of the fbodies for whatever reason anyone wants to debate on.

^ with him. People stock usually dyno over 300 horsepower. And at the crank you typically (for any car) have around 15-20% more power. I'm not sure if Cobras are really underrated. I'm not sure why Ford would do that, but GM underrated these cars to make the Corvette and GTO seem faster and worth the extra $$$.

im pretty sure the 01s were fixed --- but the 2000 cobras were only pushing about 280 flywheel- I raced one back in the day when they first came out.. i had a 93 lt1 formula hardtop auto- from a stop to about 80 i had him by 2 cars or so... i think there was some problem with the exhaust manifolds or heads ... something of that sorts

My buds got 03(maybe) SVT cobra. had a ford performance dohc v8 installed after he blew the factory engine... got headers MAF sensor and TB and its a 5 speed and it seems like his car is equal to mine.

the 01 cobra is a light year over the 99... trust me... i USED to be a Ford guy... the only cars Ford have successfully underrated were the 2003-2004 Mach 1s. They're at 305-310hp crank... they put about 280 to the wheels. Other than that... every car is usually dead on. Cobras (03-04) may fall in there... but no. They weigh like hell and suffer ridiculously from heatsoak.
I definately will say our LS1 F-bodies put 350 to the crank... EASY!!!!
Anyone who doesn't believe needs to run you... they'll believe after.
oh yeah... the 99 Cobra is perhaps Fords biggest embarrassment. That's why the Cobra went into hibernation for a year and came out with a new Engine in 2001. they were OVERRATED by Ford... and well... enough said.

then it's a 2001 or 1999. Safe to say 2001. The 2003-2004 Terminators are 6 Speed ONLY. And yeah... they are faster... but remember they need a Supercharger to be faster... just saying... lol.

i have ran more then one 03-04 corbra ... they will eat a ls1 on a dyno and still lose a race .... its s/c with stock pullys his power band is in the low end ...... 03-04 corbras have the same gears and trans as us u know that thing we break .... t56 rated for 450 lbs of tq as my car sits ts got p&p tb maf slp lid and magnaflows along with free mods and short shifter ... i beat ever 03-04 s/c corbra i have raced ... i get them by a car and .5 by the end of 1st gear ... corbras can lunch thery independnt rear suck kinda like a gto ... then ls1's pull the hell outta the high end ... un less the corbra has pulleys a m6 ls1 car shuld win .... a better race woulod be a ls2 gto vs a 03-04 corbra
