writing a paper on our cars
Hey guys, if you didnt know, im a college kid and for my english class my teacher told me that i can write a paper on some kind of hobby or something that i could try to convince people that is good. Well i chose our cars. And my first paragraph is about how the LS1 is a very good engine and i compared it to the 01 cobra engine. But i am having trouble with my next topic, the hurst 6 six speed manual transmission and i have an a4 so i dont know much info on it. Now my question is, can you guys give me any info like what you like about it any flaws and so on? thanks guy it would help.

Read somewhere around here that our m6 is made to blow our rearend.....hahaha
"M6 - Here is where practice and more practice is involved. Staging launching, and shifting takes alot of practice to be consistant. The M6 is much better for daily driving when having a cammed motor, but the downfall is your are more prone to breaking parts, missing shifts (over-revving at the same time), and a number of other expensive things.
But the good part is you put much more hp to the ground and even more when A4's go to a bigger stall. But the high stall A4's are more consistant on launches.
A plus is that M6's are just plain fun to drive and very good if into Auto-X."

my teachers always hated on my car papers because they were all women and they bored them. Hopefully you have a gearhead teacher.

i dont necessarily like the "skip shift" feature on our M6's....it gets me every now and then...lol..other than that i dont really have anything bad to say about our M6's....they're fun as hell to drive!!! Good luck with your paper!

its garbage. Stock clutch cant withstand the stock horspower it is a zo6 clutch though right? Def one of the better things to upgrade.

The stock clutch isn't "garbage".
Its an 11" clutch and its more than sufficient for stock power. I beat the hell out of mine and never had any issues. Most people get 50,000-80,000 miles out of the stocker driving in a performance manner. Drive it like a grandma and you could easily get 200K out of the stock clutch.
If you drive it like you stole it, launch it hard, or upgrade your engine, obviously the stock clutch will need to be upgraded eventually.

+1
My 98' T/A is going on 109,000 miles on the orginal clutch. I am the third and will be the last owner. The previous owners baby this car, I however drive it like it is meant to be driven. I know in the near future I will need to replace the clutch. When I do, I will upgrad to the zo6 clutch...
You could possible add to your paper that most owners don't just like their car (Trans Am/Camaro) we truely love our cars, like it is a part of us. I had a 96' firebird and my wife convinced me to sell it because me need more room with our newborn. for 5 very long years, everyday, i get depress looking at everyone driving their T/A's or Camaros around. It got so bad my wife finally agreed to let me get another one..

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
the biggest problem with a stock shifter is there is too much play in the gate..this leads to over stressing the pads and bending forks...that is why alot of people roll with the pro 5.0...its a great shifter..tighter gate and you dont have to worry about over stressing parts.
