Is it worth it?
Two Trans ams popped up for sale in town. Having one pop up is rare. One is a navy blue metallic trans am at a dealership in town. Its a regular T/A no ws6 option. It has 61,000 miles. Owned by a old lady, taken care of. They want $13,000 for this T/A.
The second is the color I want pewter. It has a 100,000 miles it has been in a front end wreck, and is in the shop for repairs right now. It needs a little TLC but is $7,000
My question is which one should I get?
Second if I get the navy blue one is it worth $13,000? I know its worth it, but money wise.
I know you guys hate these questions, but Ive been looking for a while and would appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
My opinion would be jump on the NBM. If a lil ol lady owned it, then most likely was granny driven.

With the current prices of 4th gens lately, I think that's a good deal.

NBM for sure. The price is a tad high in my opinion. Unless there is a warrenty of some sort included. You could also see what recalls have been done to the car. I know that there was one for the cats and it's costly could take some off the price of the car. Just a thought.

Yea my vote goes for the NBM too, any pics or links?

No pics or links, i will get some when i test drive it. NBM looks pretty clean, i will mention the cats to see if they replace it or lower the price some.

You didn't say what year they were. I would stay away from the wrecked one and the NBM is over priced. I wouldn't pay over 10k for it even if it's a 2002. Little ol lady that's what everyone says. Unless you know the owner personally who owns/owned it means nothing. I've seen so called little ol ladies who beat the crap out of their cars and what is to say her husband, boyfriend, son, etc...didn't beat the piss out of it? For 13k you should be able to find a WS6 with similiar mileage.

Good point, i do not know them personally. The cars are both 2002, I guess i could wait. I did wait 4 years, I can wait another few months. Its killing me though

Get what you want, if that is the NBM 02 just get it for the right price IMO that is no more than 10,500. If you want a pewter WS6 and have 13k to spend keep looking you will find it. I looked at dozens of camaros for well over 6 months before I found the one I wanted at the right price. I was willling to travel 200 miles too but the right one popped up 10 miles away.

Yeah I have no patience (4 years of wanting one doesnt help). I finally have the chance to buy one now and am excited. I get what your saying though, dont jump on the first deal. I dont mind color, I just wanted it to match my firebird if it doesnt oh well. I just want a ls1 in it, and ws6 would be nice but not absolute necessary. I want to put a raptor hood on it, and ill change the suspension.

Quick Silver- 2002 Z06
$13,000 with a lifetime powertrain would seal the deal for me.. That is a tad high like said above though. I imagine Long Tubes and a new clutch would void the lifetime powertrain though so no modding until its paid off unless you don't care about losing the warranty.

Black- 2001 Trans Am WS6 M6
I wouldn't give over 11,500 or maybe maybe 12,000 for it. Patience is the key. Try searching surrounding areas on craigslist. Sometimes you'll get lucky and find a sweet deal on a car not in your immediate area but somewhere close. Found mine, an '01 Black WS6 with 33,000 miles on it, in a neighboring state about three hours away. Paid 11,000 for it and it was in very good shape.

Arctic White, red/gray- 1997 Corvette, 92 Typhoon
13,000 is too high imo. I paid 11,700 for a 2000 T/A nonws6 m6 when it had 39,000miles on it. That was three years ago when these cars were worth a bit more. I have in my hand paperwork fro ma car that was sadly sold but was a great deal. 2000 z28 cloth interior 6 speed with t-tops, 69,000 miles and they were asking 6400 for it. And there is a white 1998 T/A with 68,000 miles automatic for 7,000 in northern IL. There are great deals out there, just gotta stay on top of the search and wait.

Here's a vote for the NBM, price a bit high but if you feel it is perfectly preserved then maybe negotiate regularly on it, you know, wear-'em-down.

Don't ever believe the "driven by an old lady" or "adult driven" sayings unless you some how know this to be fact. I had the fortune of find and talking to the 2nd owner of my TA on the phone after I traded it in a couple years prior and he said that the dealer where he bought it from said it was owned by a 50yr old insurance salesman who babied the car all it's life.
I'm currently 38 (still a ways from 50) and have never sold insurance in my life! So be careful, stories can get pretty tall out there at dealerships...
BTW I vote for the NBM but check it out,or have somone who is mechanically inclined to check it out with you. Good luck!
