Zinergy I decided that $13,000 is too high. I am not going to get it but I am going to keep searching.

Jagfan93, I tried to negotiate but I am not good at it. They wouldnt budge.

67Camarorsss I thought that sounded a little biased...then I saw what you wrote at the bottom, haha.

Baluchitherium, thanks. I should be careful then. When I tried to walk away they kept trying to get me to buy it.

The NBM looked pretty clean I printed a a buyers guide for F-bodies, and it passed all the requirements. Checked the vin, everything was clean. I guess it would be worth it but I think I can find a better deal somewhere else to keep my payments down.

look up the blue book value for your zip code. pricing is all over depending on what part of the country you are in. so if someone from a different area says it is high than it is probably high for that area but not necessarily yours. so like my opinion of high would have no relevance to you because you are in texas. a price in florida or california wouldnt matter to you either. other states all have different values guarenteed. the only way someone elses opinion in price would matter is if you willing to drive to where they are to buy the car. that being said check the for sale section on here. hell hit up ls1tech's for sale too. thats the only reason i go to that site.

A good way to negotiate is to test drive and inspect it first. Then put down your exact top offer (one that is less than sticker but still "reasonable", on this car probably like 11750-12000 at a dealer, you could get it cheaper in a private sale btw). Make sure you determine this "top offer" before you go to look at the car and financing to back it. Tell them that that is your top offer and not a dollar more. They'll hem and haw about this feature and that special option making it worth the sticker price all the while knowing they'll sell it below sticker. Then when they reject your offer and make counter offers just say, "call me when you're ready to sell me this car at X price" and walk away. This means you have to be ready to walk away and have patience. There is always wiggle room on used vehicles. more than on new cars actually. As long as there isn't a high demand for the vehicle you want to buy this method will work if you make a reasonable offer. It also ensures you dont pay more than you wanted to.

If you've decided you definitely don't want to pay full price then watch & see how long it sits there, check back with them every week or two: "hey I see that T/A is still there, any wiggle-room yet?"

Has worked for me in the past.

If someone else buys it at full price while you're watching it then so be it.

Good point. My method works best when the car has been sitting for a while.

That's a good plan. When I was looking for a vert there was an 01 Z28 6sp vert with 12k miles on it at a local dealership. I really wanted an SS but the low miles were attractive. They were asking 22k for it I offered them 15.5k and they laughed at me. Two weeks later I bought 99 SS vert with 35k miles on it for 13k. A month later the dealer called and asked me to come down to talk I told them no thanks I bought another car. They ended up letting it go for 15k. Patience is everything.

May I ask how you knew they sold it for 15k?

    SMWS6TA, It is a 2002 Trans Am.

Yeah, patience is the key. I know its hard, but I have to do it. I will be rewarded later when I finally get to drive in my Trans Am.

Nice! Which means you could probably get it for 11000 or a little less. Put the screws to 'em! Low ball them a bit and tell them I know it's been here for a while, you've already dropped the price because you weren't getting much interest. A smaller profit than they wanted is better than no profit at all.

    Too late to vote?

NBM! (once the price is around 11k, IMO). A car is never that same after a nasty enough reck, unless you know the details of the damage and the autoshop it's at, and you trust them, you don't know how good of a job they are going to do in repairing it.
