Why is my stock exhaust so quiet?
I have a 02' pontiac WS6, the car is all stock except for the slp air intake. When i start my car the exhaust is as quiet as a honda civic, is it supposed to be like that? I was going to get an edelbrock muffler does anyone know if this would change the sound any or would it still be quiet?

Why is edelbrock so bad? it seems to have a nice sound. and what is the difference between getting a muffler and a cat back? does welding in parts make a difference in sound/performance vs a cat back?

i have an edelbrock on my car it will make it sound louder the stock muffler has packing in it the edelbrock is like a flowmaster or any other performance muffler has no packing.

the cut out is pointless unless you are going to drag race it a lot. i think they sound like shit. like i said earlier i have the edelbrock muffler with 3'' mandrel bent pipe and it is loud enough.

Why is it so quiet...BECAUSE IT'S STOCK!
Edelbrock is just one of many companies to that sells catbacks. I havent heard any good OR bad things about edelbrocks on LS1s. A cut out will be loudest, but I am not sure if the sound is considered a good sound.99 T/A M6

TSP Tru-duals (18" sweet thunder) here. Loud as hell at WOT. Not too bad at idle or normal driving. Some dont like them though. I am happy with them other than the x pipe smacking occasionally. Gonna take care of that in the spring.

Yes, the loudmouth will give you some very noticeable volume, and a rather nasty, mean sound as well.

Thats odd cause when I had my Camaro, the stock exhaust sounded pretty loud to me. IMO

Take the cat out if u want it louder and if u dont have to worry about emmisions. BTW i have a question, is it any good to have stock pipings and just have a muffler and tips? What would that be considered?

yea its fine..are you talking about having stock pipes then a aftermarket muffler and tips? the only difference between what you have and a cat-back system. is mandel bend piping and larger dia. piping. what you have is muff-back system ..yea i totally just made that up.
