I have a 2002 NHRA special edition Formula and the best give away as to it truly being a NHRA SE is the aluminum drive shaft. Think how much lighter that is and how much less twisting power a lighter shaft would require to get going. Nice!

Wrong. As was already discussed, ANY LS1 f-body w/ an M6 got a 3.42 rear gear and an aluminum drive shaft. ANY LS1 f-body with an A4 and the optional 3.23 rear gear got an aluminum drive shaft. NHRA cars got ZERO mechanical parts that were unique to NHRA cars. The ONLY thing that makes an NHRA car unique (i.e.: something that was not otherwise available on any other f-body as a separate option) is the badge. Oh, and the 1SH RPO too. <<<THAT is the best way to tell a true NHRA car.

ZERO 4th gen f-bodies ever left the factory w/ a 3.88 rear gear. I believe you are confused by the fact that the optional GU5 3.23 rear (if the car was an A4) was included as part of the 1SH package.

My nephew has one of these and we are trying to find out how many were made of his edition and what number his is...is that info on the door build sticker? Could you post a photo or let us know where on the sticker this info is? He has to sell his and is not sure what to ask for it. He thinks 13,900 since it has 68k miles. His is a T-tops. Thank you for your help!

In 2002 they made 189 Trans Am NHRA coupes with the automatic 4-speed. I believe the numbers for convertible models and formulas were less than a hundred

Door Service Sticker with the 1SH NHRA Code

Here is a link to my pictures of my 2002 Formula. Among the pictures is the Service Parts ID sticker on the driver door. It shows the 1SH code in the second to last row, fourth from the right end. A true Formula NHRA Special Edition. One of 108 made in 2002. It is for sale if anyone is interested. Automatic - Bone Stock - $11,900 in great beautiful condition.
