what is the factory rear end

hello all, i just got a 00 trans am ram air ws6. i was just wonder if anyone knows what the factory rear end is. I want to change mine was thinking 4.10 any info. The car was a one owner car and has 60k on it if i do change gears should i have whole rear end redone i guess the guy who owned it put a stage 2 clutch in it and i has a k&n but there are many things i want to do to this car i love it so any other info would help on mods too. thanks

WS6 with the M6 is 3.42. 4.10s is not a problem, just remember to have your speedo corrected.

can you correct speedo with a programmer?

Yes with a programmer (predator or hypertech) or LS1edit. I have a used Hypertech that I bought and used once. I would sell it for 150.00 shipped if you are interested. It is for a 2001 so you would have to research to see if it works for the 00 (I think so). I have LS1 edit now. I needed it for the headers w/o cats.

Just to elaborate / clarify:

ALL M6 f-bods came w/ 3.42 rears.

ALL A4 cars had 2.73 standard w/ 3.23 optional.

ALL SS/WS6 w/ A4s have the 3.23 as a "mandatory option".
