    What to expect?

Some of you may have seen my thread about my 79 t/a and my aspiration to purchase an ls1 powered bird sometime in the near future. I have been ghosting this whole site for months now learning about these cars. One thing I have noticed are what people pay for them are ALL over the place. Searching around craigslist, autotrader, vehix, and other sites most around my area are 100k+ miles at 9-11k$. Most of you would say thats way too much. My question is to you what would be a fair price to pay for:
    best case scenario:
    01-02 ws6, m6, less than 100k miles, preferably stock
01-02 trans am, m6, less than 100k miles, preferably stock
    would settle for:
    any 98-02 t/a with m6, less than 100k miles.

any help I'm looking at about a 10k loan but if I can take a smaller one and get what I'm looking for then hell no need for hire payments.

Sorry as you can tell I am a

There are actually quite a few lower mile cars around than you think. I agree, there is no rhyme or reason to the pricing on these cars. Like you, I have seen them priced all over the place. Best bet is to thoroughly look the car over, understand the common issues (See this thread: Guide to Buying a Fbody ), and only pull the trigger when you are happy with what you found and what you are paying for it. In our case, I think I paid a little bit more than average, but the overall condition was simply incredible for 71,500 miles.

I firgured it would be for the most part a "you get what you pay for" deal. I just dont want to horribly over pay. First time actually buying a car on my own. Thanks for the link.

I paid a little bit more for mine too then i should have probably but when i bought it in 07 it had less then 16k on it. Just look it over and make sure you are happy with it.

In the spring/early summer prices seem to jump $500 to $1000 higher. And there a big difference between a fair price and a good deal. Everyone will post on there "good deal" and will state you overpaid if you pay more then that.

WS6 75k to 95k miles (nice and clean) = about $10,000 to $11,000 is fair. Def can find cheaper if you search around and absolutely wanna find the rock bottom deal.

    T/A 75k to 95k = $8500 to $10,000 is fair

The price your going to pay all depends on how much you like the ride your looking at. When you find the right one you'll know. It's like finding a good woman.
