not sure on the Z28 rpo code....but the WS6 was an RPO code for a suspention and tire upgrade in the '78 Firebirds...and was an available upgrade in all subsequent years I believe...options varried with the "ws6" option from year to year...

I suppose the people that are stuck on higher numbers would never see that something with a lower number could be better.

    Origin of Z28 RPO Code . . .

The "Z" prefix refers to a body code or option. For instance, on the 1967 Camaro, the Z21 option was for the Style Trim Coupe-- which was a group of items such as chrome trim pieces and pinstripes. Z22 was the option code for the Rally Sport Option. Z23 was Special interior group.

The Z28 option code was chosen for a very special performance package that would allow Chevrolet to compete in Trans Am Racing. (rules limited the Cubic inches to 305...).....

Interesting fact...the Z28 emblem was not put anywhere on the 1967 Camaro...however, it caught on (truly a legend) and thus, the Z/28 moniker was affixed to the exterior of the 1968 Camaro with RPO Z28
